Ashlynn Sedai's Challenge

Participants: Kirill, Bhaisra, Ashlynn, Chrisne

Location: Main Room: Will's Tavern, Tar Valon

Bhaisra nods towards a table, "If you would sit with me, Aes Sedai?"

Sitting may not be best. Instead Kirill stands near the table hands gripping his staff which seems to have appeared at his side. He leans on it with a rather indifferent look as to what is going on, though his thief Catcher eyes watch everything and listen very carefully.

Ashlynn inclines her head to Bhaisra, that smile still present on her featuers. She does not seem overly disturbed at all by the other woman's presense, "Of course." She rises from where she sits to move over to a table with Bhaisra, "Your choice, of course." She waits until the other woman choses a spot to sit.

Bhaisra waits for the Green Sister to sit before taking her own seat

Ashlynn takes the seat, after the table is chosen, arranging her skirts about her. She then glances at Bhaisra expectantly, as if waiting for the other woman to speak.

At your table, Bhaisra gestures towards one of the servers, "May I purchase you something, Ashlynn Sedai?"

At your table, Ashlynn shakes her head, "No, but I do thank you for the offer. I just finished a mug of tea."

At your table, Bhaisra nods, and orders herself a mug of tea as well before turning back to you to speak, "How have you fared? It has been quite some time since we last spoke."

At your table, Ashlynn seems to take her time responding, perhaps considering the question, "Well enough I suppose, what with lessons and duties and meetings and..... other events within the Tower over the past few weeks." She lets out a gentle sigh.

At your table, Bhaisra nods understandingly, sippping at her tea before speaking, "I have found my own efforts at the Tower to bear small, bitter fruit."

At your table, "Indeed?" Ashlynn responds, a brow raising. "And I suppose those around the city as well, hmm?"

At your table, Bhaisra mumurs quietly, "I have attempted to concentrate my efforts on acquiring a position as a trainer for polearm within the Tower itself. Though I may perhaps speak to Lieutenant Renimar soon, regarding a position in the guard."

Kirill just watches things standing aloft from the pair as they talk. No doubt about Bhaisra and her rejection by the Gaidin.

Ashlynn inclines her head gently to something Bhaisra speaks, She mutters to Table by the Fire, "Indeed, I... foreseen... bit... trouble getting... position." She pauses, nodding to herself, "I can see that happening."

At your table, Ashlynn inclines her head gently to something Bhaisra speaks, "Indeed, I suppose you've foreseen a bit of trouble getting a position." She pauses, nodding to herself, "I can see that happening."

At your table, Bhaisra laughs very slightly, "I suppose I'm a little surprised that they so readily turn down assistance they could truly use. So few of the Gaidin have time to train, it seems, and I see new students being accepted every day."

Ashlynn lifts a brow gently, then sighs softly, She mutters to Table by the Fire, "... interfere in... affairs... no more... into... of Aes Sedai. Perhaps they have... for... patience." She shrugs her shoulders, tilting her head to the side.

At your table, Ashlynn lifts a brow gently, then sighs softly, "I do not interfere in the affairs of Gaidin, no more than they interfere into the affairs of Aes Sedai. Perhaps they have a reason for doing such.... to teach patience." She shrugs her shoulders, tilting her head to the side.

Kirill shifts his eye's back and forth between the two women as they speak and then back to watching a group of miscreants getting rather loud over in a corner playing dice. His gaze is firm and almost a warning to them.

At your table, Bhaisra stares into the depths of her tea quietly for a long while before answering, "I have often tried to give myself hope by thinking that they are testing me in some way...But I do not see even the Trainees being put through such paces...And I certainly have no wish to be Gaidin."

Ashlynn hmms slightly, watching Bhiasra quietly as she considers the spoken words, She mutters to Table by the Fire, "... are just to... to... something new.... it would be... is not... everyday,..." She pauses her words and sighs, "Though do not get yourself down... you'll find something I'm certain."

At your table, Ashlynn hmms slightly, watching Bhiasra quietly as she considers the spoken words, "Perhaps they are just to set in their ways to accept something new. I had warned it would be hard to find acceptance here. A woman warrior is not something that is seen here everyday, if at all..." She pauses her words and sighs, "Though do not get yourself down... you'll find something I'm certain."

At your table, Bhaisra looks up, a faint twinkle in her eye as her mouth quirks gently, "Oh...I -must-. All my life, all my training, is nothing without a place to utilize it. If I cannot use it directly fighting the Shadow, at the very least I could help train those who would be foremost in that battle."

At your table, A faint smile lingers gently upon Ashlynn's lips, "Indeed." She pauses for a moment, then murmurs, "Did you try the Guild....? There is a group of mercenaries about the city who take on new hands from time to time."

Kirill snorts a laugh at what he over hears coming from the Sedai about Bhiasra but keeps his eyes focused on the men across the tavern.

Bhaisra turns in her seat and looks directly at Kirill with an even smile, "My good man? Would you perhaps care to join us, so that you may better participate in the conversation?"

Kirill looks down at the table and the two. "I would not want to impose on such important matters. but since the offer is made I will join you at that." his face still hides his feelings under a face of calm serenity.

Ashlynn's eyes turn to Kirill, hardening somewhat, "If you feel, -child- that you have something to say about my conversation, then say it. Now. Elsewise, keep your opinions to yourself." Ice is her voice as her words come forth.

Kirill shakes his head as he sits, "I have seen the Gaidin talk with Bhaisra here. And my ears have over heard rumors in the practice yard. Most aren't kind towards this woman."

At your table, Ashlynn inclines her head toward Kirill, "As I have already warned her, child. You speak nothing new, yet you seem as if you could best her yourself. Is this what you think?" Her eyes appear to narrow in on Kirill, as if waiting to see what he has to say.

A faint laugh escapes Bhaisra's throat as she leans back in her seat, watching Kirill with a tightly wound kind of poise, her eyes half-lidded as she watches his interaction with the Aes Sedai.

Kirill gives the the warrior woman an appraising glance and his face turns up into a smile, "I am quite sure that I could best her if I needed to, though I prefer more subtle methods, better to avoid fighting when possible."

"Then... dear child, since you are so certain of yourself, you are charged with finding yourself a lance and attempting just that which you seem to seek to do.... prove that you are her better." Oh, the look within Ashlynn's eyes appears to be very serious, indeed. She is not joking.

If a pot of gold fell out of the sky and landed at Bhaisra's feet, she couldn't look more pleased at the prospect of sparring with Kirill.

Kirill stands from the table and bows, "It will be as you wish Sedai Ashlynn. This is not a very fitting place for a sparring match...perhaps someplace else? more visible to Gaidin perhaps?" He fights back a bit of venom in his voice at having to actually fight this _woman_ but his face is nothing but sugar and spices.

A brow lifts, as if noticing the venom there, "Of course, if you are too frightened at the prospect, child, I am certain she will spare you your humiliation." A light smile lingers at Ashlynn's lips, denoting the confidence she has within Bhaisra, "The practice grounds will be quite fine."

Bhaisra murmurs though her cat-with-a-canary smile, "That would be prefferable, surely."

Looking to Ashlynn, Bhaisra asks softly, "May i be permitted to bring my weapon into the Tower Grounds, Aes Sedai?"

Ashlynn's eyes move toward Bhaisra, and gives a faint nod of her head, "Indeed, you may, for this specific event."

Kirill laughs and throws back his head, "I am not frightened, I just didn't want to hurt her is all. such a pretty face she has." True or not....

"Thank you, Aes Sedai." Bhaisra gives a polite nod, the closest approximation she can manage of a bow whilst sitting. She looks up to Kirill at his comment, the same pleased smile on her face, "If you would like, you may be permitted to fight with a blunted weapon. I am certainly not so proud that I would give up an advantage, even to an opponent such as yourself." Yeowch. What did she mean by that?

Ashlynn rises delicately from her chair, lifting a brow at Kirill, "And you find me less dangerous than herself, when it comes to fighting, hmm?" She shakes her head, "Such a pity that some are so blind."

Bhaisra rises with the Aes Sedai, looking to Kirill, "Please...Let me know a time that will be most convenient for you."

Kirill bows to both ladies, perhaps ducking the flying insults. "I practice in the training yard most of the day. Find me there anytime and it will be my pleasure to see that you find your proper place...."

Bhaisra rests one hand on her hip casually, "Then I will go retrieve my weapon immediately." She nods to the Aes Sedai, "And will hasten to the Practice Yard shortly thereafter."

Kirill flinchs slightly as something has bit him on the rump. He manages a smile in mock delight, "I will escort the Sedai to the Yard then....I assume that you want to watch Ashlynn sedai?"

Ashlynn narrows her eyes slightly at Kirill, "If you keep up that attitude much longer, -child-.." Again her voice hardens, "You will find who is exactly going to be put in their place." With that a look of concentration forms upon her features, then a slight smile finds itself there, "Indeed, I do."

Ashlynn adds, "Though I do not need to be escorted. You may go..." She moves her hand to the boy, "And get yourself prepared. Remember.... use a lance. That is the chosen weapon." She glances to Bhaisra, a hidden look within her eyes.

Bhaisra bows formally to both parties, "Then I shall meet you within the half hour." She turns on her heel and makes her way, a strange little bounce in her step.

Bhaisra makes her way to the Flaming Arrow to retrieve her lance, and Kirill and Ashlynn head to the Practice yard. Bhaisra meets them there shortly afterwards.

Kirill enters the Practice yard behind the Sedai and bows to the Gaidin as he does. Moving Directly over to the rack of weapons he retrieves a lance. Not quite the staff that he is used to but close enough for this little sparring match that will be over before it has begun. He glances over to Ashlynn for her approval of his weapon.

Ashlynn is already seated upon one of the benches, eyes silently watching Kirill as he enters the area. They then move to Bhaisra as she arrives and the Sedai nods to her in greeting, a faint glimmer of an amused smile touching upon her lips.

Bhaisra enters with her lance resting against her shoulder. Her face is composed now, neither confidence nor trepidation showing on her features. She bows formally upon seeing Ashlynn Sedai, and turns to look at Kirill, giving him a shallow nod as well.

Kirill strides out into the middle of the courtyard towards Bhaisra lance in hand as told. With a look at the other trainees and to the Gaidin he smiles slightly.

Bhaisra holds her lance in both hands loosely and looks to Ashlynn Sedai, apparently waiting for some word of when to begin.

Kirill takes a ready position lance in hand ignorant to those around. His mind focuses on the fight at hand and he assumes the void to heighten his actions.

With a sudden strike similar to the Heron Wading in the Rushes Kirill leans forward with a kick step and plunges the lance at Bhaisra's middle. No sooner does his foot hit the ground and he recoils to get out of her reach.

Ashlynn inclines her head to both Kirill and Bhaisra, as if assenting to what is about to happen.

With a movement so slight that the watchers might doubt their eyes, the lance in Bhaisra's hand flashes up and knocks the point of the the young man's lance away, her body turning to let it slide past her.

Bhaisra takes a few steps backwards, keeping Kirill at range, her lance still held almost casually as she waits for his next attack.

Kirill spins the lance around his body keeping Bhaisra at that distance while he takes a step forward and strikes out at her upper right shoulder. No sooner than he has tried that he closes the gap again and plunges the long lance at her left claf.

A brow lifts silently as Ashlynn watches Bhaisra's and Kirill's moves, her head tilting to the side for a moment or two.

The tall woman moves sideways, simply dodging with a few careful movements. The close observer might even notice her pass up any chance to take a direct shot at Kirill, apparently content to let him wear himself out.

Kirill presses on with his attacks intent on overwhelming this woman. With a greeat burst of speed unlike what he has done before he grips the lance with both hands horizontally and strikes out to Bhaisra's right side with a quick jab and then shifts his weight and brings the other end around to her left side with that lightning burst of speed.

A slight look of pleased surprise crosses Bhaisra's face as she brings the haft of her lance up to absorb the oncoming blow, her arms visibly flexing at the force of it, even as she steps sideways, bringing her lance around to send the flat of her blade towards the back of Kirill's right thigh.

Ashlynn glances between Bhaisra and Kirill, a faint look of amusement touching her features.

Kirill does a tumble roll over the blade as she swings at his leg. Somehow he has manages to not get tangled up with the lance in doing so. Pulling up into a crouch, much like a coiled spring ready to be released he makes another strike to the womans legs.

Bhaisra thrusts her lance downwards to catch the blow, and takes a light, hopping step backwards out of Kirill's range, using her lance for leverage. Tiny droplets of sweat begin to appear on her forehead, but the quirk in her lips has gotten deeper.

Chrisne steps from the courtyard and onto the practice yard. His eyes scans the people present..already his eyes start to show some yellow or gold lines at the outer brims.

From his crouched position Kirill srings into action and rushes at Bhaisra intent on striking through her defenses and knocking her down to the ground with the force of his body as it smashes towards her.

Ashlynn continues to watch Kirill and Bhaisra, more intent on amusedly watching them then taking notice of necomers.

Bhaisra almost seems to sigh as Kirill rushes her, her own body moving in a swift arc around his attack, and her lance lashing out again, the section of the wood just below the head aimed to connect soundly with his buttocks.

Chrisne walks to the edge of the field to watch Bhaisra battling Kirill. He shoots a glance to the fine-dressed lady nearby and bows toward her, since she is most certainly an Aes Sedai. His interest is however quickly drawn back to the practice battle.

Breathing in and out with effort Kirill growls as his attck misses and the woman has once again danced out of his attack let alone that she tagged him from behind in doing so. Once again he steps in at her while spining the lance around to mask where he is going to strike next almost too late he lets the roatating lance's momentum carry it towards Bhaisra's neck, clearly he isn't pulling this punch at all.

Chrisne frowns at the lack of skill and control of Kirill and continues to see how Bhaisra handles it.

Ducking so swiftly that the tip of her braid is nicked and pulled slightly by Kirill's attack, the lance in Bhaisra's hands flicks out, lashing at Kirill's shins in a firmly delivered attempt to knock him over.

Kirill tumbles to the ground as Bhaisras swing clips him in the shins. His lance which isn't his greatest weapon flies from his hands and clatters off to the side about five feet away.

Bhaisra stands over Kirill and places the point of her lance against his throat, looking down with a calm, chilly look on her face, more than a touch of frost in her voice, "Do you yield, Trainee Kirill?"

Kirill blinks once or twice as if actually thinking over the question. Finally with some frustration he nods slightly, as much as one can with a blade at your throat. "Aye."

Chrisne smirks and nods softly by himself. He simply watch Bhaisra, wondering.

Bhaisra whips the blade away and steps back, offering Kirill a hand up. Not even a touch of pleasure shows on her face, as if she perhaps feels a little guilty for tearing the trainee down so swiftly.

Kirill grasps her hand and climbs to his feet without a word. Collecting his lance he walks and replaces it with the rest of the weapons and silently disappears into the barracks.

Bhaisra watches Kirill go, not moving to wipe the faint sheen of sweat from her brow until he is out of sight.
