Words of Wisdoms

Scene: Tower Infirmary

Characters:
Jhyn'na - Altaran healer
Milli - Wisdom

Preceded into the room by a round-faced, sullen looking Novice, Jhyn'na saunters wonderingly into the Tower's version of an infirmary, looking quite impressed with what she finds. The Novice waves a hand towards Milli, dropping a curtsy for greeting and departure all at once. "Thank you, Novice Rendra," comes Jhyn'na's alto before smiling politely to the one she presumes to be the woman she seeks. "Mistress Milli al'Sain? My name is Jhynevyrliana Navaare, you had left a message at my shop some days back? I do hope it wasn't terribly urgent. You see, there was a bit of a crisis at the Weider family's house. With all their children sick, I had to devote my time to them until the illness had passed the critical state." It all comes out in a rush, eager to avoid offense.

Milli smiles and nods. "Ah, yes. A pleasure to meet you, Mistress..." She seems to struggle with the name, and settles for the last name instead "Navaare. A pleasure indeed. I be Milli al'Sain, yes. And don't worry. It was no great matter. I just wished to pay my compliments, one Wisdom to another." Indicating a nearby chair, she offers Jhyn'na a seat. "Would you like some tea, perhaps?"

A soft laugh, silver light though hushed in respect to her surroundings, Jhyn'na nods agreement "Oh tea would be lovely, though I can't stay that long. Errands you know." Settling herself on the chair offered, she adds "Oh, I go by Jhyn'na. The name Father gave me can be quite cumbersome sometimes."

Milli chuckles as she walks over to the nearby stove, getting the kettle from it and passing a shelf, takes another cup with her. Setting the cup on the table in front of Jhyn'na, she pours the hot water into it before going back to replace it. "Jhyn'na it is," she says, as she is returning from replacing the kettle. "The Light graced me with a father who was willing to depart the Tarabon custom of long and windy names, luckily." She gives a small snort and sits down, extracting some pieces of bark from some tree from a pouch sitting on the table.

Milli breaks the bark into fairly small pieces before dropping it in Jhyn'nas cup.

Jhyn'na chuckles, awaiting the tea politely, "Tarabon then? Father and I originally came from Altara, though we had to stop in Caemlyn on the way here some years back." The ever-present basket she carries has been relegated to a spot near her feet and she nods grateful acceptance of the refreshment. A glance around, curiosity agleam in storm-grey eyes and she comments "My, this is quite a bit grander than my own. I suppose you've got everything you could ever need in here."

Milli nods her head, finding a spoon to put in the cup before she sits back down, waiting for the tea to draw. "Oh, aye. My parents were both from Tarabon, but I was born in Whitebridge, lived most of my childhood in Cairhien and moved to a small village outside Whitebridge again to be trained as Wisdom." She follows Jhyn'nas eyes as she looks around. "Oh, not by far. The Yellow sisters seem convinced that what can't be done by the Power isn't worth trying." She chuckles again, a small grin appearing on her lips. "I intend to prove them wrong."

Laughter for response, Jhyn'na modestly raises a hand to render her amusement more polite with an abashed glance around in case any of the Sisters were around. Indeed, she does receive a few looks, though primarily from white-garbed apprentices of the Tower. "Well I have met one of the Yellow Sisters. Nata Sedai, by name and title. She has sent some Novices to my shop for herbal supplies, so I don't think all of them are of that particular mind." The teacup is lifted so that she may check on its steeping progress, then set back down again. "Ohh, redberry bark. I've not had tea from it in years at least. My most recent favourite is chamomile, actually. A rare taste, that one."

Milli takes a sip from her cup as Jhyn'na speaks. "I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Nata Sedai yet, I'm afraid. I will have to make sure we are introduced some day." Setting the cup back on the table, she leans back in her chair. "Chamomile you say? I can't say I've had the pleasure of tasting it, I think. Do you have a supply of redberry bark, or would you like some to take with you?" she asks, already picking up an empty pouch from a drawer in her desk.

Jhyn'na considers that a moment, gazing off towards space to check on her mental records. "I believe I am about at half-supply for that particular item. That's for my shop of course. Personal stores are quite a different story. In that, I have none." She grins, finally picking up her teacup to partake of its contents. An experimental sip later, she nods approval and comments "A lovely tea, smooth but with just that bit of tang to it. Tell me, have you been here long? I'm merely marveling that I have not met you before now."

Milli smiles, stuffing a few long strips of bark in the pouch, placing it on the table in front of Jhyn'na. "Yes, I find it very tasty. It has a slightly relaxing effect too, I've found." She shrugs, somewhat uncomfortable for some reason. "I've been her for about two weeks now. Not too long." She takes another sip at the tea and then sets it down again, pushing a jar of honey over to Jhyn'na. "Do you want honey, by the way? I find it a bit bitter if it isn't just off the kettle myself." Leaning back again, she continues "Actually, I was thinking of seeking you out again tomorrow. I'm glad you came by now. I have been given permission to help the Aes Sedai teach their classes in some manners, mostly about fauna and herbs, wound treatment and the likes. I was hoping that you would help me fill some of my needs. Even though this infirmary is well stocked, they seem to lack some basic things i wouldn't be left without."

Jhyn'na arches a slim brow of interest, accepting the honey; she hardly takes tea without but forgot in her exuberance of meeting a peer. The tea is properly and liberally ministrated with the sweetener as she replies "Oh? Of course I would be happy to be of assistance. Yurinar Gaidin had approached me some time back on helping with the Warder trainees' instruction and he mentioned that very topic. Perhaps my help won't be necessary with you here?"

Milli sits up, half afraid she has offended. "Oh, no. By no means, I wouldn't want to take your position there. I am certain we can come up with some sort of arrangement so we can help each other out there."

Jhyn'na raises her free hand placatingly, a dimpled smile in support of her lack of offense at the idea. "Well, that's just as pleasant of course, I merely didn't want to tread on your responsibilities here. My duties with my shop effectively cut down on the amount of time I can spend in lecture assistance. I'm always open to learning myself, you see. Perhaps we can teach each other in the process."

Milli nods, seeming relieved. "Yes, I think I would like that. I have access to quite a lot of information in the Tower's library." She pats the book on the table. "They did things differently back then, I can tell you.", she says somewhat lower, casting a glance towards a passing Yellow and giving a small conspirational smile as she leans closer. "They mostly used herbs, but used the Power to quicken their effects and mend what the herbs couldn't."

Jhyn'na's features take on an odd look at mention of libraries and research. "Indeed? I'm afraid my learning stems from practice rather than books. Mother Mitarra and Mother Sephrana taught me from their own books inside here." A finger taps at her temple and she continues, "I've often heard of the reputation of the Tower's library, but not been able to gain access to it. I didn't realize I could learn from it too." She too, leans forward with a mischievous smile, "Besides, the Aes Sedai don't seem to know how to smile, nor the Gaidin to stop being grumpy." Her tones are hushed of course; angering such powerful creatures is not on her list of favourite hobbies.

Milli chuckles, but a glance goes from her to the Aes Sedai present, not quite comfortable with the concept herself. "Oh, we should really get together on this then. I can tell you of what I find in the libraries, and you could indulge of some of your knowledge." She smirks. "I have to admit, Jalaina didn't have the easiest pupil to handle in me, so things didn't always stick to my mind." She shudders and frowns, seeming like someone who just bit a lemon. "She eventually got those notions out of me though. Yech, I can almost taste the sheepstounge roots still."

Milli leans a bit closer too, speaking hushedly. "Actually, speaking of grumpy Aes Sedai... I was speaking to Atalanta, the Mistress of Novices the other day. She was actually quite nice and friendly. She accidentally laughed once, too." She concludes that sentence with a merry giggle.

Jhyn'na bites a giggle back, choosing instead to grimace at the very thought of sheepstongue root remedies. "Oh dear, I've had my share of my own medicines and that is not one of them that take any particular fondness to." She leans back in her chair, taking another sip of her tea. "Oh? I haven't met Atalanta Sedai at all, but I don't exactly spend extensive amounts of time on Tower grounds. As a matter of fact," she sweeps a gaze around the room again, "This is likely the longest I've spent visiting here. Barring sessions with my father of course."

Milli quirks an eyebrow. "Your father? He is a Gaidin, perhaps?"

Jhyn'na chuckles faintly, taking amusement from the very idea. "Oh, Father's certainly grumpy enough to be one, but I'm afraid he's just one of the guards."

Milli nods. "Ah, I see." Drinking down the last of her tea, she looks at Jhyn'na. "More tea, perhaps?", she says, getting up of her chair.

Jhyn'na glances around, a bit startled at the passage of time. "Oh, I'm afraid I must be going, I meant to check in on the Weider family this eve before I returned to my shop." A rustle of skirts as she rises with a smile "Please do come visit the Shaiel again, I would dearly love to talk with you."

Accepting the pouch with a sincere "Thank you," Jhyn'na gathers the basket by her feet and drops the gift in. "The next meeting will depend on my stores of tea, of course." An invitation and she awaits protocol of an escort back down to the Tower doors. "A good day to you Mistress. It was a pleasure to finally meet you."

Milli stands up and extends her hand for a handshake, chuckling. "Ah, yes. We will speak again soon, I hope. I think we will have much knowledge to share."

Jhyn'na doesn't refuse the handshake offer of course, but turns to follow the appointed Novice back down the Tower ramps. "Soon!" she calls out over her shoulder, then promptly disappears.
