New Inhabitant of the Tower

Scene: Tar Valon, White Tower CourtYard.

Cast:
Adriene - Novice
Sionil - Accepted
Atalanta - Mistress of Novices
Milli - Wisdom

Milli enters, scanning the scene. Her trusty bag is missing, and a large book is securely stuffed under her arm as she walks down the stairs.

Adriene sits on one of the benches, her puppy in her lap.

Atalanta is speaking quietly to Sionil. She smiles to Milli.

Milli walks over the courtyard, stopping as she reaches the group. Curtseying, she intones. "The light shine upon you all this Morning." She smiles as she makes a loud sigh, drawing deeply off the spring air. "And a glorious morning it is."

Atalanta smiles. "Aye, indeed!"

Adriene ignores Milli's comment and continues whispering to her puppy.

Sionil puppets Lanta's smile "Much better then prior days."

Milli smiles to Lanta. "Ah, you are Atalanta Sedai, Mistress of Novices, no?"

Atalanta nods. "Aye, that I am."

Milli inclines her head towards Sionil. "So it is, Accepted." Adressing the general presence, she says: "I am Milli al'Sain, hired to work at the Infirmary. It is a pleasure to meet you all."

Atalanta smiles. "A pleasure to meet you as well. You were the woman with the handy herbs. They were a wonderful defense against that chili, thank you."

Adriene again ignores Milli.

Milli smiles at Atalanta. "Ah, good. You should thank your library for that, actually. There is much to be found in your archives, not only about the Power." She pats the book under her arm.

Atalanta looks a little wistfully at the book. "I...do not read much."

Sionil says "Neither do I, but what book? I've had my times in the library too"

Milli quirks an eyebrow at this. "Really?" She chuckles. "Well, the Browns take care of that, I reckon."

"Yes..." Atalanta says, slowly. Clearly, the topic of books makes her uncomfortable.

Adriene speaks up and addresses no one in general. "Wise Woman and their Herbs."

Milli 's gaze snaps to Adriene, frowning. Her eyes hold a sour look for a moment, but then she seems to give a mental shrug, her frown turning into a smile. She chuckles. "No, not exactly. It's called 'Herbs for the Novice - A sour taste at Healing.'"

Adriene speaks again just like before. "That one wasn't very informative."

Atalanta chuckles at Milli.

Milli grins at Atalanta. "I won't mind giving you a few recepies from that one, Aes Sedai."

Atalanta chuckles. "Can you just mix some up for me?"

Sionil stands and rises from the Patch of Grass.

Sionil gives a smile to Atalanta and walks over to Adriene

Milli smiles. "Oh, I am sure we can come up with something."

Sionil mutters to Adriene.

Atalanta chuckles. "I could probably use a steady supply."

Adriene nods slightly to Sionil.

Sionil sits down on the Garden Bench.

Adriene smiles weakly. "How are you Sionil?"

Sionil giggles a little

Sionil says "I'm doing well"

Sionil mutters to Adriene.

Milli walks a bit closer to Atalanta, speaking lowly. She mutters to Atalanta, "She is a... that..."

Atalanta senses "Milli walks a bit closer to Atalanta, speaking lowly. "She is a bit.. frisky, that novice, no?""

Atalanta mutters to Milli, "... problems."

Atalanta whispers "Yes...she has her problems."

Adriene mutters to Sionil, ""Lanta... said she..."

Sionil mutters to Adriene, "... she... what?"

Adriene nods.

Milli nods. She mutters to Atalanta, "... was... not... tower,... wishing to... sick... I... You..."

Atalanta senses "Milli nods. "I was visited not long ago by a novice who seemed very uneasy being at the tower, more wishing to be with her sick mother. I can't blame her for that... You have many like this?""

Atalanta mutters to Milli, "... in... while... difficulty."

Atalanta whispers "Cailet? She is the first in a while with that particular difficulty."

Atalanta invites Milli to sit down.

Milli sits down on the Patch of Grass.

Milli accepts Atalanta's offer and sits down, placing the book in her lap.

Milli plucks at a few strands of grass as she continues talking to 'Lanta. She mutters to Atalanta, "... her... you know... are... she... visit... be... follow her there,... is... all..."

Atalanta senses "Milli plucks at a few strands of grass as she continues talking to 'Lanta. "I promised her to ask, by the way... Do you know if there are any possibilities that she can be allowed a visit with her mother? I would be willing to follow her there, if it is at all possible.""

Atalanta mutters to Milli, "... be... all ready... I... if... Amyrlin..."

Atalanta whispers "That would be useful...I have all ready told her, however, that I will back it if the Amyrlin does."

Milli nods. She mutters to Atalanta, "... have learned one... in... with the... in... Focus... learning..." She huffs, obviously having had bad experiences about that. "My mistress was very certain that I was not distracted. She could contend you, I think." She chuckles, but somewhat uncertainly, not knowing if she pushed that a bit too far.

Atalanta senses "Milli nods. "I have learned one thing in my studies with the Wisdom in our village. Focus is very important, and with distractions, learning is very hard." She huffs, obviously having had bad experiences about that. "My mistress was very certain that I was not distracted. She could contend you, I think." She chuckles, but somewhat uncertainly, not knowing if she pushed that a bit too far."

Atalanta smiles. She mutters to Milli, "Maybe... take... her, then."

You sense Atalanta smiles. "Maybe I should take lessons from her, then."

Milli smiles back, relieved. She mutters to Atalanta, "... know... they... best... I... I... a Wisdom... Mistress of Novices,... Novice."

Atalanta senses "Milli smiles back, relieved. "You know what they say. The best medicine tastes worst? I would fear the day I see a Wisdom a Mistress of Novices, if i was a Novice.""

Atalanta laughs merrily.

Atalanta mutters to Milli, "Then... /definately/... local... foolishness."

Atalanta whispers "Then I should /definately/ go see the local wisdom, to hear how she deals with foolishness."

Milli grins. She mutters to Atalanta, "They say... a taste... be... for quite... i... to..." Her grins widen impishly.

Atalanta senses "Milli grins. "They say sheepstounge root and fern leave a taste to be remembered for quite some time. And i happen to have a large supply of both." Her grins widen impishly."

Atalanta shudders and grins. "I got that quite a lot as a child. I wouldn't wish that on anyone!"

Sionil slowly reaches her arms around Adriene and gives the novice a hug.

Adriene flinches slightly but returns the hug.

Milli chuckles. "No, I've tasted it myself. Not good." She shivers, smacking her tounge as if the taste still lingers.

Atalanta grins and wrinkles her nose.

At your table, Atalanta says "I'm surprised that the Yellows hired you, though I'm glad they did. It is not often that they acknowledge the ability of the non-powered to Heal."

Sionil mutters to Adriene, "... want to... my new room?"

Adriene shrugs. She mutters to Sionil, "I..."

At your table, Milli nods. "I haven't spoken much with them, no. They seem to have that opinion. I was hired by the Keeper, actually." She smiles, somewhat proud of her "achievement".

Sionil stands and rises from the Garden Bench.

Sionil holds our her hand to the novice.

Adriene stands up, but refuses the hand, choosing to hold Kolby instead.

At your table, Atalanta smiles. "Micana is a dear."

Sionil gives a curtsey towards Atalanta and walks towards the tower

At your table, Milli nods, "Oh yes, she's been most helpful and kind. I helped her with teaching one of her classes in wound treatment, and she seemed to be very kind and patient." She looks over at the Novices, shaking her head slightly in sympathy. "The girl seems very bothered. Those two seem to be bonding somewhat, but she's so... recluctant, seems. Do you know what has caused this?"

Adriene cursies as best she can before following Sionil.

At your table, Atalanta says "Her father beat her."

At your table, Milli shudders. "That would explain a lot, yes. But why does she then fear being taught here?"

Sionil walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Adriene walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

At your table, Atalanta says "She thinks everyone is out to get her. Nobody likes her, everybody hates her, doesn't like being called 'child', that sort of thing."

At your table, Atalanta says "She doesn't even respect the ring."

Milli nods thoughtfully. "Paranoia is often the hardest to break, I've read." Her hands unconsciously pat her book again. "I read about this in the library. Given enough time untended, such cases can lead to much dismay. Blocking, overexertion from fear..." She sighs. "One of the Novices up at the infirmary channeled too much fire once in panic. Burned both her ability out of her and her body. Not nice."

Atalanta shakes her head. "Not at all."

You say "Have you tried to "break" it?"

Atalanta nods. "repeatedly."

Jaesena walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.

Milli and Atalanta are sitting over at a patch of grass, talking silently by themselves. Milli looks up at the new arrival, giving a wave and a smile.

Jaesena shuffles down the steps and bobs a curtsy, finally something that isn't mashed into bits, at the sundry Aes Sedai and Accepted milling about. At the wave her face transforms and what once held a miserly frown blossoms into a friendly openness. She pads closer and inclines her head.

Jaesena rubs at her nose, all her bad habits not erased completely and smiles again at the Taraboner.

Atalanta says "Jaesena, if you need to blow your nose, get a hanky."

Milli inclines her head to Jaesena. "Greetings, novice. Pleasant day today, no?" She grows silent as Atalanta speaks, though.

Jaesena blinks at the Mistress of Novices, not even aware of her hand reaching up to rub and she licks at her lips, clearly confused. "Blow my nose? I'm not sick or anything, Atalanta Sedai." She flicks a pleasant glance at Milli but remains otherwise silent in her salutations to the other young woman.

Milli leans back, luxurating in the spring sun. "Oh, Atalanta Sedai.. A thought springs to mind. I was meaning to ask if there is any possibility that I help further in teaching your novice classes. I am certain that I can be of use there, if i have some initial guiding."

Atalanta smiles. "Of course. What do you have in mind?"

Jaesena spins sort of halfway from the two in conversation and slides onto a nearby bench, her thumbs twiddling lightly in time with her swaying feet.

Milli thinks a few moments before replying. "Well, most of my experiences lie with tending illness, but I've seen quite a few scrubs and wounds too. I could teach that, and perhaps some things about fauna... What is edible and not and the likes."

Atalanta says "I like the idea of a fauna class that is more indepth."

Atalanta says "Its an important survival skill."

Milli nods. "I would suppose so. Gaidin were present at the class when I assisted Micana Sedai, too. They would be most likely to need it, at least."

Atalanta nods. "I like it allot."

Milli smiles. "Would you speak with the other leaders, perhaps? Or are you at liberty to decide such by yourself?"

Atalanta smiles. "I'm at liberty. Go for it."

Another white-faced Novice comes trotting down the steps, bobbing curtseys here and there and she stops at Jae and whispers something to her before hopping along to another Novice that's passing through.

Jaesena curtseys to Atalanta Sedai and smiles at the Taraboner woman before hopping up the steps.

Jaesena walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Milli nods, giving a smiling greeting to the passing novice. "That is good. Will you perhaps tell me a little about how I should tend these classes? Should i call them myself, or expect Aes Sedai to send them to me?"

Atalanta says "Call them yourself, but do me a favor? Try to make sure I can be available for the first one?"

Milli nods. "I will do that, Atalanta Sedai. Thank you for your trust." She gives a bright smile and looks almost ready to hug Atalanta, but restrains herself.

Atalanta smiles. "You're quite welcome."

Milli looks up to the sky and gauges the time from the sun. "I see it's almost time for my appointment." She smiles at Atalanta. "If you will pardon me, Aes Sedai. I have to go now. I have a meeting with the proprietor of a shop in the city."

Atalanta smiles. "Have a good day."

Milli nods, getting up. "I've enjoyed our conversation, Atalanta Sedai. Perhaps you will visit me at the infirmary some day? I make a very good tea, i am told."

Atalanta smiles. "As long as its nothing with sheepstongue root, I shall take you up on that offer."

Milli laughs merrily. "No, we shall leave the sheepstounge out. Good day to you, Aes Sedai."

Atalanta smiles and waves as Milli leaves.
