Players: Phoenix, Dana, Nata, Atlanta, Gould, Raithor, Kelsyn, Morillin, Rock, Lynna, Melli.
Place: Courtyard of the White Tower
Dana slips into the courtyard quietly.
You sense Phoenix has removed that bush and is in the process of planting another one
Dana curtseys to those present.
Nata fromns as she finishes looking. 'It is lined up properly and starting to heal on its own. To late for me to do anything. Lanta, you should know better. You delayed full use of your arm by 5 to 6 weeks neglecting coming to have it healed soon enough.
Raithor strolls in through the gate, his pace slow, determined and deliberate like a man who knows his purpose. His hands are tucked inside his cloak, leaving only his head showing outside the fine garment.
Atalanta pushes up her glasses. "I'm sorry, Nata," she says, sounding almost.../almost/ meek..."but things just kept coming up.
Dana eyes Raithor nervously as she moves to sit crosslegged on the grass.
Dana sits down on the Patch of Grass.
Dana has straight sandy brown hair, which is held in a pony tail by a white ribbon. She has a graceful way of walking, and looks about her with cloudy grey eyes. She appears to be about 17 years old, and she has a tendency to fidget nervously. She gazes about herself in wonder, and seems to be a bit apprehensive most of the time. Dana is wearing a loose, flowing white novice's dress. It has the effect of making her seem to glide when she moves.
Kelsyn enters the Courtyard through an opening in the large wall surrounding the Practice Yard.
Kelsyn exuents the practice yard, moving over to his oh so normal position holding up the wall. He leans himself against it, his eyes dark and stormy as ever, no expression on his features other than a complete stoic look that fits him so well.
Phoenix pushes the sod in around the roots of the newly planted rose bush and examines his work.
Nata shakes her head. "You risk reinjury also as long as it is vulnerable and fragile, sister. If anything of the sort happens again, you have to seek help sooner. Now...did you hear what Phoenix had to say about some of your novices?...er...you have met him, have you not?
Dana watches Phoenix work with interest.
Atalanta shakes her head. "No, I have not. Hello, I am Atalanta Sedai. It is a pleasure." This last to Phoenix.
Raithor pauses in his steps, dark eyes slowly examining the courtyard. His examination is through and quick. His steps resume once again, this time taking him very near the gardener, "Greetings to you..." he cuts his words off, pre-empted by an Aes Sedai.
Dana glances at Atalanta, looking at her more closely when she hears the name.
Phoenix is temporarily bewildered. 2 people talking to him t once. Aes Sedai employ him so he gives Lanta priority. He bows from his kneeling position. "My name is Phoenix. It is a pleasure to meet you."
The Illuminator bows deeply to the pair of Aes Sedai, appearing willing to wait for his chance to speak with Phoenix as if this man holds some special interest for him.
Atalanta smiles. "And you. What is it that you wish to tell me about the Novices?" She gives Raithor a nod, not wishg to be rude.
Phoenix scratches his head. "Oh yes, well only that they were very helpful on 2 occassions and seemed to know quite a bit about botany
Phoenix says "Caraline got down on her hands and knees and helped me with some pruning"
Dana fidgets a bit, running her fingers through the grass absently.
"Caraline did?" Atalanta looks rather shocked. "Well. I'll be."
Phoenix says "She seemed very interested, started asking me all about orchids, very curious. I'm considering lending her some books"
Phoenix says "And then there is Jaesena who helped me with some planting work very nice of her."
Atalanta smiles. "I'm glad to hear it. Please lend her anything you wish."
The hem of Raithor's cloak begins to sway, betraying the fact that he is shifting from foot to foot where he stands. Eyes peek this way and that, giving the sense that he is becoming bored with this chatting and being made to wait.
Kelsyn pushes away from the wall, slipping into the barracks.
Kelsyn pulls open the door to the Barracks and leaves the Courtyard.
Phoenix looks to Raith now that Lanta s gone. "What can I do for you Master Raithor?"
Nata glances toward the stranger and nods to him politely.
A faint, smug smile crosses Raithor's lips as one of the Aes Sedai hurries off. Nodding respectfully towards Nata, he turns attentions to the gardener "You seem to know who is who and if they are coming or going. Would you happen to know where Ashlynn Sedai might be found?" his words end in a charming smile.
Phoenix nods matter of factly. "Likely in her room. Why do you ask?"
Raithor doesn't reply immediately, dark, shifty eyes peering at those about the courtyard such as Nata and Dana. His reply is accompanied by a cheery smile "A simple matter of business. I believe her and I know each other from the past." is all he says, before he asks "I don't suppose there is any way I would be allowed up to see her? See if she were in her room?"
Nata speaks up at that point. "Novice, would you please go knock on Ashlyn's door, notify her of a visitor and return to escort him up if she wishes to see him?
Dana blinks, then quickly jumps to her feet. "Yes, Aes Sedai..."
Dana scurries off.
Dana walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.
Phoenix scratches his head. he does that a lot. Well I suppose if you could find yourself an escort to take you. I get lost up there though so don't ask me. Irinya and Morillin Sedai had me doing flower arrangements for their rooms" He shudders visibly "I got lost twice as I recal. The flowers did eventually get where they needed to be though."
Raithor smiles at Phoenix and the gardener's reply. "Yes, I imagine that is easy to do. The Illuminator Chapterhouse is very big itself, granted, not as grand as this White Tower here, but one find himself lost in it just as easily." hinting that he has done the same himself. Then turning to Nata, he nods his gratitude, "Thank you, Aes Sedai. I do appreciate the effort."
Gould walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.
Dana walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.
Gould comes down the steps silently and saunters across the yard, assuming a position at the side of his Ward.
Dana scurries into the courtyard, and over to Raithor.
Nata looks up toward Gould with a warm smile as her warder approaches, knowing exactly where he is. "Good evening."
Phoenix says "Yes I imagine the illuminator chapter house in Carhien would be a place to visit. Doubt you let old men like me in much further than the front lobby though. Ah well."
Gould nods to Nata, "evening."
Dana says, a bit breathlessly, to Raithor, "Ashlynn Sedai isn't in her room, and I'm not sure where she is right now...I could take a note to her if you'd like..."
Raithor nods to Phoenix, jesting with the man as is apparent in his tone of voice, "Aye. I'd be happy to escort you around, although I wouldn't be able to let you leave." He begins to laugh, but this is swiftly cut off in a horrid coughing fit which wracks his body. Soon, it subsides and he can be seen nodding to Dana, "Thank you..girl" his voice still raspy, "You'd deliever a note for me?"
Dana grips her dress nervously as she waits for a response.
Dana takes a step back at the coughing fit, giving the man a concerned look. She nods. "If you'd like..." she says softly.
Nata glnaces toward the stranger. "You are ill?"
Phoenix chuckles, a thousand witty retorts springing to mind at once. He says none of them though and is quiet as the Aes Sedai addresses him
Gould looks where his Ward looks, curiously. He remains silent and where he is, watching the two strangers silent.
Raithor waves Nata's question away with a forceful swipe of his arm through the air. He coughs once again and continues "No. I'm quite alright." He proceeds to reach into the folds of his cloak and extract a rolled, sealed parchment which he hands to Dana with the following said authoriatively and warningly "See she gets this letter as soon as she returns. Do not let it out of your sight and do -not- open it."
Dana nods.
Nata speaks again. "Sir, Is your cough from some type of illness you need checked or is it an effect of the smoke from your work, as illuminator?
Dana tucks the parchment into her belt.
Phoenix stands up and steps back away from the row of bushes to examine his work from a distance, making sure that the new bush fits in well with the rest of them.
Dana turns from Raithor, noticing Gould for the first time. She eyes him(looking up to do so) uneasily, and makes her way back to the grass.
Dana sits down on the Patch of Grass.
Raithor nods to Dana, giving her a now encouraging look. He isn't as mean looking as he appeared, or is he? He turns to glare at Nata, snapping in reply "That is none of your concern Aes Sedai." his rebuke causing him to cough twice. "Leave me be."
Gould looks at Raithor coldly as the man snaps at his Ward, staring hard, very hard at the man's eyes. He does not threaten overtly but he looks decidedly . . . put out.
Nata nods once. "So be it." she responds indifferently now, a slightl cool note in her voice. She turns her attention toward Phoenix, as if dismissing the other from her attention, not rudely, but certainly without caring if he coughs his lungs out or not.
Dana frowns slightly as the tone of the room changes, and she keeps a wary eye on Gould.
Phoenix is pleased with his work. "That rose bush should take to its new home quite nicely."
Raithor now turns the dark, cool orbs of his eyes upon Gould, the man he doesn't know "Sir? You have a problem with my appearance?" he challenges the man to respond.
Nata smiles. "Good. Gould, this is Phoenix, the man now in charge of gardening here. He oversees the novices in some of the gardening chores, directing the timing of the planting and such.
Nata says "Phoenix, this is Gould Batala, my warder and Master of Arms here."
Gould looks back pale and uncaring. He says nothing. He does not turn his gaze. He simply stares like a statue. He nods as Nata speaks, but keeps his eye on the lunger for a moment longer,. He turns and nods to Phoenix as Nata introduces him, smiling slightly, though pleasure does not enter his eyes at all, still displeased, though not at the man he is being introduced to.
Phoenix bows. He would offer his hand but figures there's a staring contest going down so he simply contents himself with the usual formalities. "I trust that all the warder hopefuls that keep wandering up to ask me where they should go or who they should talk to should be referred to you then?"
Gould says "any Gaidin can take care of the hopefuls if they wish training. It takes sponsorship of a Gaidin, not me specifically."
Dana looks at Gould a bit differently once she hears his title...yet seemingly with even more apprehension.
Phoenix says "Ah so just send them to the practice yard then. This is easy enough I suppose." Even he can remember that."
Raithor smiles at the response he gets, the expression upon his face appearing pleased and vindicated, "Yes, I thought so much. Good, good." He nods to the warder, bows to Nata, then nods to Phoenix. "A good evening to you all then. Unless of course you are at all interested in a small peek of the upcoming display I shall do..."
Dana says softly, "Display?"
Phoenix looks over his shoulder and quirks a brow. He's always interested in things of that nature.
Gould smirks at the man as the idiot assumes he's won something. A clear passing of his sentiment flashing through his eyes at the man, and then, the man is ignored as Gould looks through him . . . past him. The man ceases to exist as he turns his gaze to his Ward and smiles.
Nata ignores the byplay without giving the impression of rudeness, merely attention no longer directed toward someone who removed themselves from her sphere of attention. She continues to speak with Phoenix. "Will you be overseeing some of the herbs also?
Raithor rubs at his chin, frowing a bit "No? Can't interest any of you in a small taste of what is to come? Free of charge! I shall pay for this exhibition myself."
Dana looks interested, but stays silent, deferring to the Sedai and warder.
Phoenix is definately interested. He looks to Nata though. "While I am certainly qualified to do so, I think I have enough on my hands with the gardens. If I am needed then I will gladly lend a hand though. A wisdom would likely be the better choice.
Gould smiles at Nata, "if I'm needed, I will be nearby."
Nata nods to Phoenix. She slides her gaze back toward the Illuminatory. I saw such displays at intervals in Caemlyn. My husband spent enough to beggar a lesser house on a display the day we were betrothed.
Gould nods and starts walking back to the Tower.
Phoenix looks Nata over for a moment once again when it occurs to him that she is from Caemlyn.
Dana relaxes visibily as Gould leaves.
Gould walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.
Dana stands and rises from the Patch of Grass.
Dana curtseys to Nata.
Dana says softly, "Please excuse me..."
Dana heads for the Tower.
Dana walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.
Raithor smiles at Nata, "yes, such can happen if the display is big enough and the Illuminator performing it qualified enough."
Nata nods slightly.
Morillin has connected.
Phoenix heads over to his wheel barrel and picks it up carefully
Phoenix nods politely to Nata and moves away from her a few paces. To a row of unruly hedges which require trimming. He tugs some clippers out and sets to work.
Nata smiles faintly to the others and heads toward the tower.
Raithor quickly reaches into the folds of his cloak and pulls out a slender tube about 5 inches in length. A deviously playful smile teases across his lips, as he glances around cautiously. He gingerly sets it on the ground, brings out a small bit of "stick" which is struck against a flagstone and put to the tube. Raithor quickly walks away from the area, moving faster than when he came in.
Morillin comes into the area, from the direction of the gardens, sweeping along the path with her usual coolly imperious expression.
Raithor reaches some distance from the "tube" he placed upon the ground and turns to face it. His eyes never leave it nor the area around where it was placed.
Out of nowhere, a loud explosive BOOM! echoes throughout the courtyard, accompanied by a good deal of smoke and screeching, whistling fragments which shoot into all directions with a mind of their own.
Nata nods to Morillin. "Good day, Sister. She looks back toward the courtyard. "Seems the garden is coming along well under the attentions of Phoenix...and there is likely to be a blast soon if the illuminator's sample works as is usual.
Morillin's gaze snaps to the source of the explosion as she comes to a sudden halt. A stray piece of stone flies towards her and bounces off the air a pace away.
Phoenix can't help it. He's always had a sneakin suspicion bout amunition. He never frogets to duck. Where'd he go? Layin face down on the ground before you can blink. He didn't know Raith was working his magic back there. He can move pretty quick when he's got the gumption.
Rock enters the Tower Courtyard through the Alindrelle Gates.
Morillin's hands release their grip on her skirts as a dark scowl slowly creeps over her face. She looks....displeased.
Lynna walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.
As does Nata as debris is scattered by whistling fragments.
Lynna cautiously peers out of the Tower doors - obviously, she's not a sound sleeper.
Rock walks in with a question look upon his face, as if to see what all the faracus is about.
Morillin sweeps the yard with her gaze, already striding towards the site of detonation. After a moment, she spots Raithor, and heads towards him.
Raithor beams with pleasure for a moment, no one having been hurt as he suspected. He turns and begins to casually stroll towards the entrance to the courtyard, leading outside to the street. Tucking his hands into his cloak, he proceeds along with determined, purposeful steps, his work here now done.
Morillin lifts a hand and makes a sharp gesture to the guards standing around the gate Raithor is moving towards. A few manage to shake off their amazement long enough to step into the Illuminator's path, hands reaching for weapons, as the Red sister stalks up behind him.
Nata enters the tower leaving the situation in the capable hands of the Red Sister to handle as she returns to her work.
Nata walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.
Lynna quickly steps back into the Tower as Nata walks in, hiding herself against the wall, before peering out again.
Raithor comes to a halt as the guards block his path. Perhaps he knows the reason. he turns around slowly so that his eyes come to rest upon the Red Aes Sedai. Making a quick study of her, he bows deeply and with much respect speaks "A Good day to you Aes Sedai. May I be of service to you?"
Phoenix gets up. He hates it when they do that.
Rock leans agains his bow and watches these matters as they develop, a smile on his face indicating that he is glad it is not him for a change being chased.
Morillin strides right up to Raithor, stopping just before trampling him underfoot, though from her expression she is more than willing to do just that. "Who are you?" she snaps. "And what do you think you are doing, setting off explosions on the grounds of the White Tower?"
Lynna quietly licks her lips, and decides discretion is the better part of valor - that, and that she doesn't want it to be Morillin to be the one to notice her eavesdropping. Quietly, she returns to inside the tower.
Lynna walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.
Phoenix looks to rock. his eyes take a long moment to focus in on the man. Recognition sparks after a few moments. he says nothing though and goes quietly back to trimming the hedges. Muttering something about how that other blue sister is going to show up any minute now.
Raithor stands up from his bow, having to actually look up to meet this woman in the eyes. It doesn't appear to bother him in the least as he makes a grand introduction of himself, "Illuminator Raithor Iridesian, Merchant to the Illuminator's Guild and Illuminator Ambassador from Cairhien to Tarabon." After a breif flourish of his lavish cloak, he adds "Begging your pardon, Aes Sedai, forgive me for correcting you but that was no explosion. It was a -small- sample of my Art, in anticipation of my upcoming display."
Morillin rests her hands on her hips, her shawl falling to loop itself over her arms. Tilting her head, she gazes down at Raithor with icy serenity etched into every motion she makes. "Allow me to correct /you/," she says softly, leaning c loser to the man as if trying to drive her words home with the sheer force of her dark eyes. "What you did was set off a minor explosion in front of the White Tower. It is only simple luck that no one was injured." Her lips curve into a chilly little smile. "Fortunate for you. I doubt you would enjoy what would be done to you if you had harmed a Novice or Accepted. Or Aes Sedai." Turning from Raithor, she snaps to the guards behind him, "This man is under arrest until the Amyrlin can be informed." Slowly, her eyes drift back to the Illuminator. "If he has channeled the One Power, he will need to be...taken care of." The One Power?
Rock snorts quietly over to one side and shales his head as he mutters "One power my long bow ... he is about as likely to have weilded that as I am of ever understanding how an aes sedai thinks!"
The Tower guardsmen shift nervously as Morillin implies a man channeling here, but nod curtly, their gaze shifting to Raithor as if trying to bore holes in the man's back.
Phoenix sighs as he watches the Aes Sedai go about their usual antics. Back to the hedge clipping for him
Raithor nods to Morillin, "So you say, Aes Sedai. However, I am a professional and I take my work seriously. I inquired to several here" He indicates the gardener for one "including several Aes Sedai and none of them protested as you have. If there was anything wrong with such an action, I should have been notified -before- I performed my exhibition." slowly he turns his cool, dark eyes to each of the gaurds before going back to Morillin, "If you believe me to be a man who can channel, test me now. You will see I am anything but."
Morillin smiles faintly. "Which Aes Sedai did you speak with? And did you tell them exactly what you would be doing? I doubt they would stand idly by as you destroyed Tower property and endangered lives."
Raithor nods in agreement, a finger on his gloved hand pointing out the Tower, "I do not know her name, as I was never introduced to her properly, however that genlteman there could probably tell you her name.." he now points to Phoenix.
Phoenix clips quietly...great the red one might be coming his way.
Morillin doesn't bother following Raithor's finger. One eyebrow lifts, slowly. "So. You have the permission of an unknown Aes Sedai, though you never actually told her what you would be doing in any detail. You expect this to exonerate you?"
Raithor shakes his head slowly, "Of course not, Aes Sedai. I explained fully my intent. That I would give a sample of my Art before the display which is to come." He holds himself up well against the onslaught from this woman, "Its highly doubtful she is unknown. Unknown to me perhaps, but others here are sure to know her name."
Morillin says softly, but with snap to her voice, "Do not /dare/ banter words with me, sir. Not even the most fanatical Whitecloak would so brazenly offer such disrespect to the Tower as you have here today. You did /not/ describe precisely what your 'demonstration' would entail, else you would never have been allowed to perform it here. As I said, you will be held in custody until you can be dealt with." She gives his fine clothing a faint smirk. "It may not be what you are used to, but you should have considered that earlier." She motions, and the guards step forward, placing their hands inches from Raithor's arms as if prepared to hustle him bodily into the Tower.
Rock snorts at the mention of whitecoats "THose fools would not have the guts unless they had an army against one .. and even then it is doubtful ..."
Morillin shoots Rock a look that should, by rights, pin him to the wall behind.
Raithor smiles giddily, appearing to just flow with mirth even though he is completely respectful and sincere in his replies to Morillin, not at once showing any disrepect "You misunderstand me, Aes Sedai. I have shown nothing but respect to this fine Tower and all it represents. My demonstration was simple and completely harmless, but if you so desire I stay here as a guest until my scheduled appointment with the Amyrling, then so be it. I shall go along willingly." and indeed he does, making no attempt to fight the gaurds. Not that he looks like he could.
Melli walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.
Lynna walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.
Morillin smiles for a moment. "Guest? If that is what you wish to think, so be it." To the guards, she says, "Take him to a cell and leave him there with one of you to guard." The men nod and start moving Raithor towards the Tower at a brisk trot.
Phoenix looks to Rock once again. This man seems to have his curiosity. He never looks for long though. back to the clipping for him
Lynna quietly comes out of the Tower behind Melli, not hiding this time, though clearly a little uneasy.
Rock chuckles quietly once again and remains leaning on his bow, watching carefully.
Melli dips into a curtsey, her eyes open with curiosity as she walks with Lynna into the courtyard.
Raithor is carried along more than walking along. He calles out to Morillin as he is escorted to the Tower, "It was a pleasure to have met you, Aes Sedai. I look forward to our next meeting in front of the Amyrlin."
Lynna curtsies toward Morillin, and then turns her attention to Raithor, losing her eyebrows in her bangs in surprise.
Morillin says nothing at all in response, but her cool eyes watch the Illuminator's every step until he disappears into the Tower.
