An Early Morning Chat

Cast:
Cynthia - Novice
Genifyr - Novice
Weste - Novice

Time: The wee hours of the morning.

Location: Novice Dorms: White Tower, Tar Valon

Stark, white walls, made of thick stone, greet your eyes, showing nothing but a plain dimness. This is the common area of the dorm rooms, where the novices may sit back and relax after a hard days work. Not much in the way of furniture is provided, however there are two small sofas against one of the walls. There is also a small table where they may read or do their studies. There is a small fireplace against the far wall.
The winter cold is held at bay by the fire blazing in the small fireplace. The lanterns are put out, and all seems quiet at the late hour.
Several doors appear to line the hallway, leading into private novice rooms. A corridor leads toward the upstairs hallway, and back to the Mistress of Novices' office.

Cynthia sits on one of the couches in the novice lounge with a small harp in her lap. Looking down at the strings she plucks softly, not noticing that Genifyr has entered. Odd for her to be up this late.

Genifyr steps out of her room. She just remembered, she forgot an area she was supposed to clean. She can't sleep anyway, she's too excited about having a One Power course. When will that happen?

Cynthia quickly places the harp next to her on the couch and takes a few leaping steps towards Genifyr. "Are you alright." She calls out when still a few steps away.

Genifyr gets up quickly, roses blooming in her cheeks. So much for making a good impression. First the broom and now this. A fine Aes Sedai she'd make. "I'm fine" She says quickly.

Cynthia stops a step away and asks, "You sure?" Seeing that she is she decides not to wait for the answer, instead offering with a smile, "Don't worry. I seem to have quite a few mishaps as well."

Weste comes out of her room looking rather depressed. She smiles a little bit a little bit at Cynthia and Genifyr, but it fades quickly when she turns towards the Mistress of Novice's office. "Do you know if she's in right now?"

Genifyr says "Okay. I'm Genifyr. And you are?" She holds out her hand to shake when she hears Weste. "I'm not sure Weste. And I'm really sorry about the broom."

Cynthia replies to Weste first, "I'm not sure but I don't think so." Turning back to Genifyr she takes the offer hand. "Peace favor you Genifyr, and you too Weste. I'm Cynthia." she says smiling.

Weste looks a little startled, but shakes her head. "It's alright, really." She sounds like she's somewhere else at the moment.

Genifyr nods. "Nice to meet you Cynthia. I have to go clean out part of the Pigeon Lofts that I forgot about yesterday."

Weste smiles and nods to Cynthia. "It's good to see you again, Cynthia."

Cynthia ohs, "Don't worry about it Genifyr. I cleaned that up last night."

Genifyr nods. "Oh. Okay." She decides to sit on a couch. "I can't wait until I get a One Power course.

Weste nods and smiles. "It might take awhile to sense the Source though. It took weeks before I was able to."

Cynthia rushes over to prevent Genifyr from sitting on the harp that Cynthia had set done. Just in case. Cynthia nods once she has the harp safe, "Yes, it took a while until I could sense it too."

Weste smiles, more warmly this time. "Of course, most of that was because I was blocked, and they couldn't figure out what it was." She looks for an empty chair to sit down in, and finds one.

Genifyr nods. "I couldn't manage to touch the source with Dal. Oh, I wanted to ask a Sedai a question. Maybe you can answer it. The second oath is "To make no weapon with which one man may kill another", correct? Why would this be an oath unless sit has something to do with making it with the One Power? And what would be special about a One Power made weapon?

Weste thinks for a bit. "Well, it doesn't cover tradition weapons, I think, because odds are blacksmiths and fletchers are better at making normal weapons than Sedai anyways... as for One Power weapons, I'm not really sure."

Cynthia shrugs, "I'm not sure but it probably covers both One Power weapons and others. And then there are ter'angreal. I'm sure some of them could probably kill people and I guess they don't want to make more."

Weste nods. "Men kill men too often as it is... why make something that would make that easier? The Greys would probably have fits."

Genifyr asks "Blocked? What's that?" To Cynthia she says "I don't think so. Sionil Sedai used the word 'unfortunately' when she said the making of ter'angreal was lost.

Cynthia nods to Genifyr, "That's true, but if it was ever found again I guess Aes Sedai wouldn't be able to make ter'angreal's that kill. Besides, maybe Aes Sedai still could make them when the Oath was first made."

Weste lowers her head a little bit before she realizes it was an innocent question, and looks back up. "I'm what the Sedai call I wilder, I learned to channel on my own, accidentally, before I came to the Tower. But all wilders have blocks set in place to protect them... it only allows them to channel in certain circumstances."

Genifyr ohs. "I channeled once before coming here. I had a reaction to it in front of Dal Sedai, which is how I was discovered." She looks at them. "Can either of use sense the ability in me?"

Weste shakes her head. "They call it delving, but I haven't worked with the power long enough to do it. I haven't even been able to make out auras yet."

Cynthia shakes her head, "I haven't learned how to do that yet but I can see the aura around you if you were channeling."

Genifyr asks "An aura? Channelers can see auras around each other?" She also asks "Can you do anything with the power right now?"

Weste nods. "I could, if I was allowed. When working with the Source, you can see aura around anyone else that uses it... at least you can when you've worked with the Source for awhile. You can also see whatever weaves they are making, or have made."

Cynthia nods to the first, "Yes, Channelers see an aura, a glow around another woman who is holding the Power. But I'm not supposed to channel without an Accepted or an Aes Sedai to watch over me." she says bout the same time as Weste.

Cynthia adds, "No Novice is allowed to channel unless an Accepted or Aes Sedai is watching."

Genifyr says "I don't need to see you channel, but can you tell me what you can do? The flower exercise is all I can do. I haven't managed to touch the True Source yet."

Weste nods. "I've had the first lesson, and intensive lessons in Air, Water, Fire and Earth. My Water and Fire lessons didn't go so well, but I can do all sorts of things with Air and Earth, like pick things up, suspend them in the air, bend metal... those sorts of things."

Cynthia says "I've had all those lessons except Fire and Mixed weaves. I was pretty strong in Earth and Air but spirit was a little hard to do."
