Alkala's First Day (From Another Point of View)

Logger: Kelsyn
Date: February 6, 1998
Place: Practice Yard - White Tower
Summary: Akala finds herself stuck in the Tower. Maeve is thrown out of the Tower due to behavioral problems.

Lanta walks in, a slight scent preceeding her. She's also dressed in silk.

Kelsyn appears to stalk from the Barracks, his feet taking him into the practice yard. He closes the door to the barracks behind him firmly, then turns to look about, his eyes first going the trainees, not having noticed his Sedai just yet.

Lanta finds an out of the way place to be while Kelsyn deals with his students.

Kelsyn nods to himself as he finishes scanning the yard and the progress of the others, then turns and starts toward the exit. As always, his features hold no emotions.

Lanta follows, having absolutely no interest in watching trainees practice. When she shows up, its to watch Kelsyn.

Lanta enters the Courtyard through an opening in the large wall surrounding the Practice Yard.

Through the arches he moves, then toward his normal spot. Still he does not spy his Aes Sedai. That is, not until she comes closer to him. He pauses his walk to the wall and turns to Lanta, bowing. "Aes Sedai."

Lanta smiles. "Kelsyn."

"How are you this morn, Aes Sedai?" The Gaidin inquires, not commenting on the silks or her attire.

Lanta smiles. "I am well. And yourself?" She could almost mouth the response if he weren't looking at her.

"I am Fine, Aes Sedai." Kelsyn speaks those rather predictable words.

Lanta quirks a grin.

Kelsyn leans against the bit of wall he has managed to find, quirking a brow at Lanta just briefly.

"What?" Atalanta asks, trying to figure out what his question is.

Kelsyn gives a brief shake of his head, "Nothing, Aes Sedai" A beat passes by, "How are the students faring, or have you decided to take a vacation from them today?"

Lanta chuckles. "I didn't decide, apparently they decided. For a wonder, not even Adriene was in my office, today."

A brow quirks at Lanta, "That is good to hear Aes Sedai. Perhaps a miracle upon miracles occured and they decided enough was enough themselves."

Aedigar enters the Courtyard through an opening in the large wall surrounding the Practice Yard.

Aedigar gives a bow to Lanta and Kelsyn as he makes his way towards the Tower.

Kelsyn leans against the wall, talking to Lanta, who's dressed in silks.

Lanta chuckles and crosses her fingers.

"Of course, the day has just begun Aes Sedai." Kelsynn adds, "There is still time yet for them to get into some sort of skirmish."

Lanta chuckles at Kelsyn's matter-of-factness.

Aedigar glances over at his sponsor at the mention of a skirmish.

The corner of Kelysn's lips quirk into a smirk at the chuckle. "You find something funny, Aes Sedai?" Humor is lost on this man.

Lanta grins at Kelsyn. "Yes. You're so pessimistic. I was considering locking them into a closet until they got over it if they /do/ get into a skirmish."

Aedigar furrows his brow having no idea what the gaidin and Aes Sedai are talking about. He keeps on walking and soon enters the Tower.

"I find very little to be optimistic about Aes Sedai." Kelsyn speaks, still using his matter-of-fact manner. His features are so dead serious it's hard to tell if he's joking, or if he really is being serious.

Lanta scrubs her fingers through her hair, cocking her head at Kelsyn, her glasses slipping slightly off her nose.

Aedigar walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

BOND- Concern.

To Lanta- A slight reassurance.

Lanta pushes her glasses back up.

"Is all well, Aes Sedai?" Kelsyn inquires, a brow raising at the concern through the bond, and the reaction to his words.

"I think so," Atalanta says. "With me. I was worried about you."

Again, here comes that oh-so-famous answer from Kelsyn, "I am fine, Aes Sedai." He moves his arms from his side and crosses his arms across his chest.

Lanta says, "That's what you say. That's even what you /feel/. That doesn't stop me from worrying."

"There is no need to worry about me, Aes Sedai." Kelsyn's voice returns in it's stark, natural gruffness, "You've far too many other things to worry about."

Lanta would worry about everyone in the whole dang world if she could, but for now, she simply nods.

Kelsyn returns the nod with one of his own. He really can be a difficult person to speak with, can't he?

Lanta asks suddenly, "Do you ever take time to do something for yourself? I mean, between watching me and watching your students, do you ever do anything for you?"

A brow appears to quirk in response to Lanta's words. A simple answer follows, "No, Aes Sedai. Doing my duty is what I do, and all that I do."

Lanta looks exasperated. "You don't take any free time? You don't even just...read a book sometimes? That's why I worry about you, Kelsyn."

"Senseless things. I do not have time for those when I've a duty to maintain." Kelsyn speaks back, "There is no need to worry about me."

Lanta nods slowly, holding up her hands in a gesture of apology.

Aedigar walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.

Kelsyn still remains in his standing spot, speaking with Lanta, "So what had you so pleased within the Tower?" The Gaidin inquires of Lanta.

Aedigar bows to Lanta and Kelsyn as he reaches the bottom of the steps. He stands there a second before heading back to the practice yard.

Lanta says, "Oh, an Eyes & Ears brought me some things back from Cairhein. Frivolous items."

Kelsyn inclines his head to Lanta, though speaks nothing about items being frivolous or not.

Alkala walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.

Aedigar is walking towards the practice yard.

Lanta says, "They were just nice, is all."

Kelsyn nods his head to Lanta, "As long as you liked them" As he speaks, his eyes appear to fall upon the Tower and the person exiting. Even if his look was unreadable before, it becomes even more so now.

Alkala makes her way from the tower doors, keeping near the edge of the building.

Lanta 's eyes follow Kelsyn's. "Vacation over, I think," she murmurs. She raises her voice. "Alkala, good day! Did you have a nice talk with Jaice?"

Kelsyn merely nod his head as Lanta turns her attention to Alkala. He half-closes his eyes, as if to disassociate himself from the Mistress of Novices' work and to take up vigilence within the yard.

Aedigar glances back at Alkala as he continues on his way to the py

Alkala tilts her head and says, "We did not have much time to talk. I was tired." Then she smiles, just slightly. "I am more awake now."

Aedigar passes through the entrance of a large wall, leading to the Practice Yard.

Lanta smiles, moving over towards Alkala. "Are you feeling any better? I know this sort of thing can be very difficult."

Maeve closes the sliding door as she enters the Courtyard.

Alkala laughs then. "Yes, being bundled in a bag is difficult. But the worst of it is over now, and as soon as I get home I will discover who was responsible for my kidnapping, and they will pay." Suddenly the smile left from her laughter doesn't look quite so pleasant.

Through the wide doors leading into the stable, left somewhat ajar now that the weather has warmed, Maeve exits, pausing just outside of them. Grey eyes, calm now but as always with a storm lurking not too far away, flick over the courtyard. As her ever-curious gaze finds Alkala it lingers there, even though her quick curtsey surely is for Lanta, studying the other woman with a hint of interest.

Lanta clears her throat. "Yes, well, unfortunately, Alkala, you have quite awhile ahead of you before you're going to be able to go do your hunting. You see, there's no real assurance you won't go back out and get yourself killed...and women with your abilities are rare enough that I'm afraid I"m really going to have to keep you here."

The stoic expression on Kelsyn's features is hardly discernable, however he does open his eyes and gaze once more at Alkala, "Revenge gets you no where, girl." He speaks those words with a definite surity, so much so that it might be frightening. There is a haunted look within the hunters eyes for but a brief moment, "Only more grief.

" BOND- Another flash of concern for you, a warm feeling of reassurance and caring.

Alkala glances from Lanta to the man, then back again. "Revenge is not for the seeker, but to punish the sought. I may regret it, but then they will too regret their actions." She turns the cool expression back to the woman. "Then you are responsible for it? You hold me captive?"

Jaice walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.

Lanta coughs. "No. I am not responsible for it, Alkala, but I'm not going to let you leave now that you are here, either."

Jaice emerges from the Tower doors this cloudy afternoon, her tanned expression seeming more bouyant than previous days. A smile greets Maeve as she spots the other Accepted, but that turns more contemplative as her blue gaze finds Lanta and Alkala. A few lithe, rolling steps take her toward the group, and she greets the Aes Sedai with a curtsey before nodding to the other Atha'an Miere.

Leaning in an almost casual manner against the stable's wall, Maeve studies with some interest the small scene before her eyes, a hint if a frown darkening her expression. Though, as she spots Jaice, it is exchanged, mostly, for a smile and her somberly darkened eyes brighten somewhat again. She raises her beringed hand in a greeting, the golden serpent catching a rau of light as she does so, but makes no move to join her friend.

"Then you are more the fool for believing that girl." Kelsyn snorts as he answers Alkala's words, leaving things at that, though there is no mistaking the disgust which now shows on his usually stoic and emotionless features.

Lanta puts a gentle hand on Kelsyn's arm, though she keeps her eyes on Alkala.

Alkala nods and smiles, more sincerely, to Jaice. "She tells me I cannot leave." A rough nod of her head in Lanta's direction indicates who 'she' is.

Kelsyn shrugs Lanta's hand from his arm, pushing himself from the wall, "I have some matters to attend, Aes Sedai. I will leave you to your duty." He shows not a care for those within the yard, moving off toward the nearest set of gates. His strides are even and matched, cut short as his boot-heels echo omniscently against the stones of the courtyard.

Lanta sighs but makes no mood to follow her Gaidin.

Jaice's pale gaze takes in Atalanta Sedai as Alkala speaks, and she pauses before inclining her head briefly. Her voice is light as she says, "She is right, Alkala Fair Winds."

Lanta stands there impassively, watching Jaice in action, her own features as unreadable for the moment as those of her warder's.

Kelsyn leaves the area for a bit to take care of something in the city....

Some time later...

Lanta is standing. A flame above her palm, unnoticed. A cold, cold gaze for Accepted Maeve.

The looming form of Kelsyn comes stalking back into the courtyard. His eyes start a questing search about the yard before they fall on Lanta, a grim look on his stoic features. His blue eyes appear like eyes, perhaps eminating the mood of someone nearby. He moves off to the side, unobtrusively getting out of the way, and merely watches.

Mara says "Accepted. Not Ma'am. Accepted."

Aedigar glances over his shoulder again and notices Kelsyn. He gets up and gives him a bow before sitting back down.

Mara smiles while correcting...giving the new girl slack...letting her get accustomed.

"Or those who have too much? I have not hidden that I have doubts about why I am here, Aes Sedai. Yet, I have tried to find a reason." Maeve's voice is less cold now, but no less firm, and she does not flinch for a moment from Atalanta's cold gaze. "To hear what I've heard today... You wonder that it would make me doubt? To hear you make such threats to someone who merely does not wish to see her life taken over by the Tower. It makes me ashamed to have even spent a day here."

Jaesena blinks at Mara and nods, looking somewhat abashed. "Sorry, Accepted, I didn't realize."

Mara shakes her head, "it is alright. This time." Another encouraging smile.

Lanta smiles coldly. "You are to be leaving. You no longer have a place here. Be ashamed, but be ashamed outside of this Tower. Go pack your bags now, or I shall simply have the guard remove you without your things."

Adriene frowns and now completely keeps her attention on Maeve and Lanta.

Lanta says, "Your little displays were less than impressive as it was."

Jaesena nods again, a small wan smile appearing on her face at the older girl's encouragement. "Did you have something for me to do, then?" She wonders.

Mara nods, "yes, I do. Come along...sit with me."

Sionil glances between Lanta/Maeve and Adriene several times

Mara moves over to a bench and takes a seat.

Mara sits down on the Circular Bench.

Adriene frowns darkly now as she watches Maeve and Lanta.

Jaesena hops to, following Mara and placing herself none-too-gracefully next to the Accepted.

Jaesena sits down on the Circular Bench.

Lanta says quite clearly, "I put my best friend out of the TOwer because she could not make it here. Do you think I will hesitate with you, Maeve?" She quite clearly does not use 'Accepted' now. "With any of you?" Her voice is soft. "Tow the mark, or suffer the consequences. I have been lenient, more than lenient, with every one of you."

BOND- Pain at that memory, mingling in with the anger.

Mara looks up briefly from her now-quiet conversation with the novice and nods when Lanta's words reach her ears.

Kelsyn remainds standing where he is, no expression on his features. His eyes move about the yard, once more scanning over everyone of those there. He seems ready to move, should anything come to that, as if expecting some sort of revolt.

Aedigar returns his gaze to Maeve and Lanta.

Maeve shakes her head, slowly. "It seems you do not value honesty as much as we are lead to believe." She seems dreadfully calm still, as if it didn't really matter to her anyhow, and with no further words she turns about.

To Lanta- Once more does reassurance make it's way toward you.

Jaice and Alkala are still behind the hedges, deeply entrenched in conversation. They therefore remain oblivious to the verbal thunderstorm going on in the courtyard.

Maeve walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Kristalisa seems slightly shocked as she walks into a massive gathering in the courtyard, wondering what's going on.

Lanta banishes her flame almost as an afterthought. "Does everyone understand? Does everyone hear clearly?"

Ashlynn is not seen, nope, though Maeve does brush past her as she enters the Tower doors.

Mara looks up, "Yes, Aes Sedai."

Jaesena sounds out a "Yes" as well.

Adriene looks at and frowns at Lanta darkly, but only mutters a "Yes"

Sionil still watching Maeve go into the tower, shockingly and silently nods almost without thinking

The frown Adriene gives to Lanta appears to be returned with a shadowed from from Kelsyn, as if he expected as much from the girl.

Lanta fixes a gaze on Jaesena and Adriene. "Yes what? And louder. No mumbling."

Melli bites her lip and nods, not daring to look anyone in the eye right now.. "Yes, Aes Sedai.." she says quietly..

Jaesena adds quickly, "Aes Sedai, ma'am."

Adriene speaks up now, but the frown is still there. "Yes Aes Sedai."

Alkala shrugs as though the choice were insignificant. "I will learn everything they have to teach, and then I will be more free than I was before. More than I could have been otherwise. I will buy a ship and trade in... in... perfumes and incense and gold." She sobers at Jaice's final words. "But I will always be Atha'an Miere. They cannot take that from me, any more than they can take my heart, or my markings." She runs her fingers across the back of her hand and the tattoos that show clearly. "I will make the winds sing a song that I command."

Kristalisa seems indecisive, obivously having walked in on something big. She gives Lanta a confused look as the Aes Sedai's glance sweeps over the crowds.

Lanta nods. "Good. Tell those that did not hear. I would not have any girl tripping up because she does not understand clearly." " She looks at Alkala. "Chat over? Good. I'm glad you've come to your senses. Jaice, you may continue speaking to Alkala in my office. You have some things to go over. A uniform to give out. You know what to do>"

Mara nods, "yes, Aes Sedai."

Alkala visibly shudders at the word 'uniform.'

Kristalisa glances at Sionil, confused.

Sionil shrugs slightly to Krista, unable to explain

Kristalisa looks down, utterly confused and feeling terribly for the tragedy that obviously has occured in some form or another.

Alkala dismisses the warning with a shrug. "I will be strong. I have always been, and it has served me well." She stands. "I suppose they forced you to remove the 'rings?"

Lanta gazes once more at the Novices, and turns an impatient gaze on the air bubble. Time's more than up.

Alkala looks from side to side suspiciously. Nothing has changed or moved, and yet... "What just happened?"

Jaice stands then, talking softly with Alkala as the two emerge from behind the hedges. She blinks in astonishment at the scene in the Courtyard, having missed everything. "Um. We're ready, Aes Sedai."

Aedigar watches the scene and decides he doesn't like the atmosphere. He stands up and nods to the novices, "Good eve to you." he walks towards the barracks and gives all the assorted Aes Sedai, Gaidin, and Accepted the recquired bows along the way.

Yurinar walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.

Sionil stands and gives a curtsey towards Yurinar

Jaesena closes her eyes while sitting and facing Mara at the bench.

Kristalisa curtseys to the Gaidin, then realizing that she hadn't in the first place, curtseys to the rest of the Courtyard occupants.

Adriene frowns and picks up her puppy, deciding to go inside. Once standing she curtsies to everyone and Yurinar as he enters.

Aedigar adds a bow to Yurinar as he continues on his way to the barracks.

Melli quickly stands and curtseys now that no one's attention is even remotely focussed on her.

Sionil stands and rises from the Patch of Grass.

Lanta fixes Alkala with a stony gaze. She never blinks. "That is none of your concern. Are you ready to go pstairs and learn about the TOwer with Jaice now, and become a Novice, orwe go with the other alternative?"

Aedigar stands and rises from the Patch of Grass.

Kelsyn continues to stand where he is, though his eyes are now fixed to the doors of the tower, a look of abject disgust on his features. He snorts at the departing Accepted, then turns a more stern glance to the rest of those within the yard.

The large familiar figure of Yurinar Gaidin leaves the darkened confines of the Tower proper to enter the cloak of night outside. The elder Warder lifts a brow at the gathering. He nods respectfully first to the Aes Sedai, then nods to the others without saying a word.

Alkala looks confused. "I meant about that rushing sound. I felt it here," she indicates her chest, "a moment ago, and now it's gone." She even seems lost, suddenly. "I felt it and it was gone."

Kristalisa sits down on the Patch of Grass.

Adriene stands and rises from the Patch of Grass.

Adriene carries her puppy and enters the Tower.

Kristalisa stands and rises from the Patch of Grass.

Adriene walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Lanta softens. "The rushing around," she explains, gently, "was a resonance, between you and I. As I channeled the flame, you felt it, for you have the ability."

Kristalisa sits down on the Garden Bench.

Sionil gives a fast curtsey before going inside as well.

Sionil walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Jaice nods slowly, giving Alkala's arm a reassuring squeeze. "That was channelling. I had a bubble of air around us while we were chatting, so we could have some privacy."

Aedigar pulls open the door to the Barracks and leaves the Courtyard.

Alkala shakes her head, as if to shake the memory out of it. "And I can learn to do it? You really think... I can?" She says this without her eyes narrowing a bit, her voice almost unsteady.

Lanta says gently, "I know you can. Up with Jaice now. You have more to speak of, still."

Ashlynn chooses this exact moment to come out of the Tower doors, a grim expression on her features as she does so. Carefully does she make her way to the stairs, and walk over to Lanta, She mutters to Lanta, "... how... everything... Has she finally... of... behind the doors... entrance"

Lanta mutters to Ashlynn, "... As for Maeve,... with suitcases any... point..."

Jaice casts the Courtyard another glance as people file out, the aura of the area definitely... moody. She wisely withholds questions though, and merely curtsies to Lanta as she gestures for Alkala to follow her into the Tower.

Jaice walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Ashlynn gives a short nod to Lanta, smirking a bit, She mutters to Lanta, "That... deserved what she... far... I... concerned,... bit..."

Melli has, in the meantime, pulled out her book of notes. She looks busy at least.

Yurinar watches his Ward step from the Tower toward the Mistress of Novices side. A stream of smoke is expelled from his lips as he stands idly by the Tower doors

Alkala follows Jaice, looking at the two Aes Sedai uncertainly. She lowers in what might almost be called a curtsey, given the fact that she's most likely never done such a thing before in her life.

Alkala walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Kelsyn continues to darkly watch the courtyard, his ice blue eyes seeming to rage silently at one thing or another. He snorts once more to himself, He mutters to himself, "Bloody... be... death... happen."

You sense "Kelsyn continues to darkly watch the courtyard, his ice blue eyes seeming to rage silently at one thing or another. He snorts once more to himself, "Bloody studetns will be the death of her yet. I wont let that happen.""

Yurinar finally steps down from his perch onto the courtyard floor. Within only a few strides, he reaches the side of his Ward. Lower his voice he begins to adress her.

Yurinar mutters to Ashlynn, "... with... long... lass?"

Lanta looks at Kelsyn, wondering what he is muttering about.

BOND- Slowly, ever so slowly, the anger begins to fade.

Ashlynn turns her head about to glance at Yurinar. She offers him a silently smile, then lowers her own voice, She mutters to Yurinar, "... how... dealt... Atha'an Miere... slight... got... from... for... actions."

Yurinar gives the Mistress of Novices a conspiciously appraising glance before turning his attention once more to his Ward, He mutters to Ashlynn, "... mouth,... comin.... th'xpression... this... bit roughly,... tho..."

Lanta shoots Yurinar a glance as if wondering what he's thinking. Her temper is not entirely settled. It is so rare that displays like this come forth. They're almost always the worst displays of temper most have seen from the majority of people at the Tower.

Ashlynn turns her eyes to Lanta, then murmurs softly to her, She mutters to Lanta, "... commenting... he... about time,... she... learn..."

Lanta visibly relaxes. She mutters to Ashlynn, "... Sister."

Ashlynn reaches out and touches a hand to Lanta's shoulder, She mutters to Lanta, "... only... situation. I saw everything, as... She... aside... as..."

BOND- With Ash''s words come increasing calm

Lanta shoots Ashlynn another greatful look.

Kristalisa , talking to Melli, begins to look pale and frightened.

Smoke trickles from the large fatherly Warder's mouth as he adresses the Mistress of Novices. Nodding, "As ah said b'fore, Ah do no 'nvy ye yer job. Now more'n 'ver."

A brow quirks in Lanta's direction and for some reason, not nearly as umfathomable as it might seem, Kelsyn appears to relax somewhat as well, that wild look that was starting to come into his eyes, lessening. A good sign, that.

Jaesena's mouth makes a perfect 'o' and she gasps. "Oh Blood and Bloody Ashes!" So much for keeping her noise to the bench. "It's right /there/!" She makes a grab for it and the sensing, the feeling of the Source right /there/ just disappears. She opens her eyes dejectedly. "I failed."

Lanta ,seeming to realize what was going on with her Warder, looks suddenly very chagrined.

BOND- Chagrin, of course.

Mara shakes her head and brings her voice low, "the thief who jumps for the prize too quickly will spring the trap. Close your eyes...and relax...tenacity is the key to it all..."

Jaesena works her mouth, "Tenacity?" But she does as told and closes her eyes again, resettling herself on the bench, hands limp in her lap.

Kelsyn gives a slight shake of his head, as if conveying something to Lanta, something very important.

Lanta ,of course, looks like someone who just doesn't get it. Now her look turns quizzical, like some woodland creature studying how to get the last acorn out of a very deep hole.

BOND- A feeling I can only describe as 'huh?' (type help for commands.)

To Lanta- A feeling of reassurance moces through the bond.

BOND- Relaxation.

Lanta smiles at Kelsyn, then.

Ashlynn appears to catch all the glances, a quizical brow raising at Lanta, "Sister....?" She inquires, her own hand finding Yurinar's.

Lanta says softly, "It is all right."

Yurinar's hand swallows his Ward's as he remains standing silently

Ashlynn lowers her voice, She mutters to Lanta, "... not... inquiring about. What's... all... between..."

Lanta says, Melli. Run up to Maeve's room and see what is taking her so long. She doesn't have that much to pack."

Lanta mutters to Ashlynn, "... was... my... it."

Ashlynn quirks another brow at Lanta, this one raising higher, "You are bonded?" She glances speculatively to Kelsyn, surprise showing on her features. This is definitely news to her.

Lanta nods, "I'd have thought the rumor would bbe all over the Tower by now, she replies in a low voice, "considering the scene Adriene made over it." She scowls at that.

Melli blinks and looks up.. opening her mouth, then closing it, standing in a rush and a curtsey... and then she hurries off into the tower.

Melli walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

BOND- A flash of remembered anger before calm settles in anew.

"I have heard of no such scene," Ashlynn admits, regarding the ex-Gaidin now turned Gaidin with a bit of wonder in her eyes. She glances back at her own Gaidin, her eyes narrowing slightly, "Had you?" Almost accusingly.

Jaesena moans, frustrated.

Yurinar hrmms? at his ward, "Oh. Nay. Ah had no, but then 'gain if it does no concern ye, er food, er trainin th'lads...ah tend to no pay much 'ttention

Woodstock enters the Tower Courtyard through the Alindrelle Gates.

Mara nods as the girl touches. "close your eyes once more and try again...and this time...hold it

Woodstock skitters in, his whiskers twitching and his sinuous body slinking about within the grass. He is a rather comical site, a little ferret attempting to hide in what seems a freshly-cut lawn, and his attempts at stealth are quite in vain...

Jaesena obeys Mara and lets out a huge exhale whilst closing her eyes.

To Lanta- Another flash of reassurance as Kelsyn remains quiet.

Kelsyn just carefully observes everyone with his domineering expression, one that would cause most people to quake in their boots should they try to challenge the off kilter Gaidin.

Ashlynn gives a small nod of her head, pursing her lips together.

Lanta stands near Kelsyn, almost hovering, as if at the back of her mind she has this odd notion that /he/ needs protection from /her/.

Ashlynn appears to quirk a brow at Lanta as she moves nearer to Kelsyn. She offers the Blue a faint smile, though her eyes still wander over the mystery Gaidin. Shee leans into Yurinar, She mutters to Yurinar, "... she... in line.... he has... worse... than... nearly killed... but..."

Woodstock slithers across the ground, his snakelike body curving about like a sinewave, and his bushy little tail acting as an extension of that sinuous form. He wiggles his whiskers in the grass, at the edge of the grounds, and curls his body up in a circular coil, almost like a soft, furry spring.

Jaesena is fairly twittering, her eyes wide open now as she sits there on the bench, gaping at Mara.

Mara nods and smiles, "you are channeling now...now...let go...please...and then I will explain a few things to you."

Yurinar shakes his head to his Ward, He mutters to Ashlynn, "... Ah... m'self.... control... him..."

Trelaine walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.

Jaesena's face screws up for a moment as she figures out how exactly to 'let go' and she does, exhaling loudly. "Wait, are you sure I was channeling? I thought I had to do something with it?" She looks dubious, though.

Jelanna walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.

Mara nods, "I'm sure." She smiles. "now...there's a few things I must tell you. First...yes, you channeld...and yes...you will again. However...you may not do it whenever you please."

Trelaine comes walking out of the tower, a light cloak pulled around her.

Trelaine inhales deeply as she closes her blue eyes to take in the crispness of the night air. Then she opens them and curtsies to those in the yard, deciding to walk to the foot of the stairs before looking around in greater detail.

Jelanna slips from between the Tower doors, the colors banding the hem of her dress marking her an Accepted. She glides down the steps into the courtyard proper, expression curious as to the large crowd before curtsying to the Aes Sedai and making her way to a bench.

Jaesena nods and adds without thinking, "Well Blood and Ashes that's hard enough to do by itself. I can't imagine just doing it easy-like all the time." Little does she know. She nods to Mara's words.

Yurinar mutters to Ashlynn, "Looks as if... a... on... leash 'bout..."

Lanta nods to the Accepted who enter. Her gaze is not particularly warm, nor particularly cold...but the wary, and those looking at the pale gazes of some of the Novices in the yard, might see that she is not in a happy bouncy sort of mood, so to speak.

Ashlynn's eyes glaze over slightly at Yurinar's words, She mutters to Yurinar, "Perhaps... might... be... bad, what... her being... calm... She might... good... he looks like... storm ready to..."

Mara says "You may only channel when an Accepted or Aes Sedai gives you express permission to do so. This is for your protection....the source is beautiful....but it is also dangerious...channel too much too quickly, and you could lose your ability to do so forever...and in the process...hurt yourself and maybe your friends."

Yurinar mutters to Ashlynn, "... 'sposed t'handicap..."

Kelsyn casts Lanta something of a soft expression, or as close to one as he can perceivably get to, though it quickly reforms.

Jaesena's eyes widen considerably and she nods, listening.

Lanta looks down as a servant slips her a note. Her eyebrow lifts and she reads it, surprised. She struggles through it for a moment, holding it at various lengths from her face, muttering that someone /had/ to send a /letter/, didn't they.

BOND- The frustration you've begun to realize is unique to whenever she is trying to read something, instead of making the Power read for her.

Kelsyn keeps his voice low, so it is barely heard, He mutters to Lanta, "Do... you..."

Lanta senses "Kelsyn keeps his voice low, so it is barely heard, "Do you wish me to help you with it.""

Lanta nods with a slightly greatful look. She mutters to Kelsyn. She hands it over.

You sense Lanta nods with a slightly greatful look. "Please." She hands it over.

Mara nods, "so...no sneaking off and getting little feels of the power...okay?

Jaesena nods seriously, "Of course not, Accepted."

Mara nods. "good."

Kelsyn looks over Lanta's shoulder, then begins muttering in her ear softly, He mutters to Lanta, "... I... extremely sorry... during... stay here.... to do better... coming... and... beg you... out your anger... me... others.... stay... nice, calm... Without... could... as..." When he gets to the bottom part, he blinks slightly, his eyes moving over to a particular spot in the yard. Surprise is a first for this Gaidin, at least on the Tower grounds.

Lanta senses "Kelsyn looks over Lanta's shoulder, then begins muttering in her ear softly, "Lanta Sedai, I am extremely sorry for my actions during my stay here. I know you must be greatly disappointed and upset with me. I will try to do better in the coming days and years. However, I beg you not to take out your anger with me on others. Please stay the nice, calm person that you were. Without your understanding I could have never stayed as long as I did. Respectfully, Adriene" When he gets to the bottom part, he blinks slightly, his eyes moving over to a particular spot in the yard. Surprise is a first for this Gaidin, at least on the Tower grounds."

Mara nods, "you are dismissed, Novice."

Melli walks down the steps into the Courtyard, after pushing through the main doors of the Tower.

Lanta 's expression mirror's Kelsyn's surprise. And then a look passes over her face. It is a tender, touched expression.

Yurinar smiles at his Ward and offers her a quick wink, "Ah'll find ye 'pstairs when ye have a mind t'return." His hand slips from hers and he starts toward the Tower, indifferent to the snippets of the narrated note.

Mara stands and rises from the Circular Bench.

Jaesena stands and rises from the Circular Bench.

Mara stands and curtseys to the Aes Sedai.

Melli curtseys upon raching the courtyard.. quietly, and unobtrusively, she walks towards Lanta..

Ashlynn nods her head to Yurinar, "I will not be long, I think. It depends." Her eyes then fall upon Melli as she exits the Tower, a brow raised slightly.

Yurinar walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Mara starts toward the Tower.

Mara walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Trelaine hmmms to herself, then makes her quiet way to a bench.

Lanta smiles softly, her eyes gentle. Such a contrast to the raging storm of before! She gently acknowledges Melli. Whatever was in that letter made her melt abit, apparently!

Trelaine sits down on the Small Bench.

Kristalisa sees the Aes Sedai smiling and ventures a timid smile in her direction, prepared to be chastised if it is still inappropriate timing.

Ashlynn casts a quizzical glance at Lanta, her lips pursing in thought slightly, before her eyes take her to Kelsyn once more. She shakes her head, then looks to Melli again, tilting her head a bit.

Melli curtseys again, for good measure.. "Atalanta Sedai? I.. told Maeve what you told me to say.. she told me she was almost done.. and that she would explain?"

Ashlynn appears to sniff at the words 'explain'.

Lanta nods. "I will hear her out." Her tone, though softer..."but I am serious. I cannot lower the Tower's standards, and that may still be spread throughout these grounds." Still, she is calm, and still looks really touched.

Melli nods her head quickly... "She was packing when I saw her, Aes Sedai..

Trelaine pauses the arrangement of her skirts to look up at Atalanta, eyebrow raised. This most certainly isn't any of her business, but she's not hiding her curiousity about it, either.

Ashlynn shakes her head, She mutters to Lanta, "... need to finish... with Trelaine, but... know that I... with... on..." She speaks, then moves over toward Trelaine, her eyes masked.

Lanta says, "Tell her I will speak with her in my office in an hour or so, when we have both had enough opportunity to allow us to think like rational people."

Kristalisa still looks utterly confused, and is not going to hide it. She really looks as if she wants to know what happened.

Kristalisa stands and rises from the Garden Bench.

Woodstock takes this moment to do the unthinkable - his body, coiled, makes the perfect launching mechanism when aimed directly across the lawn, and as his spine ravels in an explosive twisting maneuver, he runs - or perhaps flies - a blur of fur and whisker that streaks across the courtyard directly toward Lanta's feet!

Lanta jumps back involuntarily with a quick, not-quite-cut-off shriek/shout of surprise as she sees the streak-o-somethin' comin' at her!

Kristalisa gapes at the ferret flying across the yard towards Lanta and in a burst of subconcious thinking, steps in its tail, which doesn't hurt it but pins it down.

Melli curtseys quickly.. "I will, Aes Sedai.. " she blinks and jumps back, with a yelp at woodstock.. then figures this'd be a good time to depart..

Melli walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Kristalisa grabs the little critter by the neck and tail and suddenly realizes she doesn't know what to do with it. "Uhmm....Aes Sedai?"

Woodstock may be fast, but he is also nimble, and as Kristalisa's foot comes clomping down to trap him, he whirls around in lightning-fast speed, slithering up her leg!

Anna enters the Tower Courtyard through the Alindrelle Gates.

Anna walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Trelaine stands up and curtsies to Ashlynn as the Aes Sedai walks over. "Ashlynn Sedai. Good eve and peace favor you."

Ashlynn inclines her head to Trelaine, "Light shine upon you, Accepted." She murmurs to Trelaine, "Have you time to finish that lesson?" She inquires.

Kristalisa shrieks as the thing climbs up her dress, THEN grabs it by the neck and tail. Unsure of what to do, she hold it up, looking rather uneasy. "Uhm, Aes Sedai.....?" Suddenly the critter gave a mighty squirm and Krista's grip loosesed, but didn't let go quite yet.

Trelaine nods to Ashlynn. "Yes, Aes Sedai. Of course."

Lanta blinks and pushes up her glasses. "Um...let it go outside the gates." Woodstock squirms in Kristalisa's grasp, but seeing as how she's grabbed him by the scruff of the neck, there isn't a whole lot he can do about it - or else, he lets it seem that way. In any case, the most that he does is hang limp, chittering angrily at her, whiskers twitching.

The Gaidin appears to frown, "Take it outside." He orders, his eyes glinting at the 'thing'.

Lanta nods. "Let it go outside the gates," she repeats.

Ashlynn inclines her head, then takes a seat with Trelaine, near that fountain again.

Ashlynn sits down on the Small Bench.

Kristalisa frowns, then nods at Lanta's clarification of what "outside" is. She carries it over and dumps it unceremoniously over the low gates.

Woodstock seems to understand the words of the authority figures, and his eyes seem to sadden as a result. His whiskers twitch once more, giving the girl who holds him a pleading look.

The looming Gaidin adds, "Or it will be my supper tonight."

Lanta looks at Woodstock and sighs. Heart melting. "he's kind of cute..." at the Gaidin's comment, she snaps her mouth shut. "Or tasty-looking," she acknowledges.

Trelaine turns her gaze towards the gaidin and narrows her eyes slightly... then pauses and shakes her head, turning back to Ashlynn. "Where were we, Ashlynn Sedai?"

Ashlynn nods to the now empty fountain before her. Funny, it had water in it earlier today, though perhaps the Aes Sedai had taught the class earier as well. "We teach you how to find a water source and use it to your advantage." She murmurs, "Remember the probe..." She begins before lowering her voice to the bench.

Woodstock chitters at Kristalisa pitifully as she dumps him over the gate. This, however, proves to be no real barrier for the thin mammal, who slips back through the cracks and scurries back through the courtyard in a lightning-fast flash.

Lanta rubs at her eyes. Obviously exhausted.

"You should sleep, Aes Sedai." Kelsyn speaks gently to Lanta.

Lanta nods, stifling a yawn. "Good night, Kelsyn." Too tired to even protest.

Lanta walks up the steps and goes through the main doors of the Tower.

Trelaine curtsies to lanta as the Aes Sedai leaves, though her eyes are on Ashlynn and her attention on what the Aes Sedai is saying. She ahs, then nods to Ashlynn.

Woodstock this time scampers around the perimeter of the courtyard, and then quickly flies toward Ashlynn - though on this second attempt at mischief he is careful not to scurry too close to any of the others present, and he weaves his way through the crowd, the furry blur catapulting toward Ashlynn's feet.

Woodstock suddenly throws himself into a halt, oddly, halfway upon his approach toward the Aes Sedai. He hauls himself up onto his hind legs and twitches his whiskers again, making no noise, but looking awfully cute in the process.

Sadr enters the Tower Courtyard through the Alindrelle Gates.

Ashlynn inclines her head to Trelaine, "Very good." She murmurs, tilting her head to the side for a moment. She concentrates on something, making a probe of water and 'extending' it to make it look somewhat like a backwards waterfilter. "Change your flow now to look like this, then start funneling a smidge of the power through the weave to drawl water toward you."

Sadr whistled a catchy little tune softly to himself as he makes his way from the Alindrelle Square.

Sadr sees the One Power being used and does not look very pleased but pretty interested none the less. His hands shoved deep into his pants pockets he stops moving, even breathing, for a scant few moments.

Woodstock has now stopped halfway between the wall and the center of the courtyard - almost inexplicably. His bushy little tail waving across the grass, he curls himself up once more into the comfortable furry coil, and wriggles his whiskers in contentment.

Trelaine nods to Ashlynn, leaning forward studying something in the fountain itself.

Sadr passes through the Alindrelle Gates under the watchful eyes of the Tower Guards.

Kelsyn starts to go loom somewhere else, moving to the barracks.
