Ogier Grove: Tar Valon, Tar Valon

Tall trees of every make, higher than you've ever imagined, assault your eyes as you first enter into the Grove. Their sheer size is astounding, as they rise beyond the lowest spired building in the streets and several of the higher towers. Small paths work their way in and out of the trees, allowing one to go explore the wonders of this wide wonder, spanning almost two miles in diameter truly making it a forest inside the city. The summer heat can be felt within the grove, however it is soon forgotten with the first glimpse of the grove and it's wonders. Flowers and bushes are in full bloom, adding to the green delight. No matter the season, people come in and out of the Grove. Under the trees you can see children laughing and playing, while those older sit atop a blanket having some sort of picnic or luncheon. There is one visible exit seems to be the gates leading to the TreeSingers Avenue. If you venture far enough into the grove you might glimpse a strange structure that seems quite forgotten, covered in vines and other sorts of vegetation.

Thanos

A tall man who appears to be in his late 20's. Soft blond hair trimmed short in the front glides down the back of his head, forming into curls as they go to just below shoulder length. At any given moment, between one and two curly frills of hair dangle before his face before they are swept back into place only to spring forth again. Well muscled although far from bulky, he stands just a hair above 6 feet. His face is smooth, and presents a mix of features seeming to display both youth and years at once. His eyes are a deep hue of green, and flash with a veteran's glint. A very light mark, perhaps an old scar sits upon his upper left cheek. A remarkably soft and very curly blond beard, trimmed to maintain a length of no greater than one inch covers his face from lower lips to neck, from chin along his jawline and up to his hairline near the ears.

At his side a very finely wrought hilt rests, clearly attached to an equally well crafted blade currently hidden by it's 38 inch scabbard. Upon closer inspection, you can notice prominently displayed upon the nine inch pommel and six inch crossguards are certainly what appear to be Herons. Interestingly, the blade is sheathed upon his right side, indicating left handed use. He is dressed casually, with a long light brown coat extending to his knees. A shirt of soft white, slightly puffy rests under the coat. His pants are of a commoner's brown cloth, unremarkable save for the belt with it's finely wrought buckle and sword cargo. Heavy, nondescript boots adorn his feet.

Janese

Dark brown hair possessing not even the slightest wave graces the head of this woman. It falls to a point just below her shoulders, held back on one side only with a bejewelled comb. The woman herself is of average height and frame. Nothing terribly outstanding, save for perhaps those dark flashing eyes in her olive-toned complexion. Ah yes, and that aquiline nose above the too-generous mouth that is usually smiling. Both ears are adorned with filigreed golden earrings, each inset with a purple gemstone. Her hands are arrayed with several rings that look to be finely crafted--all gold, while some have tiny gems inset. A longsleeved dress of soft lavender envelops her well-developed form in the Altaran fashion, snugly fitting in the bodice to the waist and hips, where it then cuts fuller to just above the ankles. The lavender material is caught up to the knees, revealing an ivory lace petticoat that is seamed with violet ribbons. She treads softly in shoes of matching violet, leaving a scent of an indefinite fragrance in her wake.

Thanos stands alone amidst a clump of trees. His shirt is off, laying at the base of one tree next to the scabbard that normally hides his sword. A sword which is currently in his hands as he practices sword-forms. His upper body is covered in a glistening coat of sweat from exercise that has apparently gone on for awhile, and several locks of curly hair cling to his face even as he leaps, ducks, twists and thrusts.

The swishing noises of the sword is all that tells Janese's ears that something or someone else is here in the grove--though her eyes confirm that it is the latter as she rounds another bend in the pathway and sees the Illianer. A brow arches and a smile grows slowly as she watches quietly for a time.

Thanos spins, twists, and twirls as a dizzying pace as he executes form after form, flowing into one another into a seamless dance. Perhaps suprisingly, his sword never actually touches the trees around him, deftly stabbing and slicing at air instead of wood. The dance finally ends as Thanos slips into a crouch, then explodes into a spinning jump before his blade makes a single high arch around him. Even as he lands he is making the motions of sheathing his sword into a scabberd that doesn't exist, standing there a moment breathing and glistening with sweat.

Well, might as well let him know he's got an audience.."Very good..very good indeed," Janese offers, clapping her hands and smiling broadly. Well of course he's good--the herons cannot be bought with mere coin, but with hard work and talent.

Thanos turns his head toward the voice, smiling and complimenting it with a chuckle as he sees who it is. "Glad you liked it Mistress Janese" he says, adding a flourished bow before straightening and laughing outright. He walks to where his scabbard and shirt lie, picking up the scabbard and slipping his sword into it before tying it to his belt. He doesn't pull his shirt on just yet, likely waiting till he's dried a little, idly swiping curly hairs back into place and away from his face. "And just how long were you watching? I didn't notice you there until you spoke." he smiles, seemingly impressed.

Oh..long enough to enjoy herself. Janese chuckles softly. "Not very long..long enough to catch those last spins of yours. You've picked a nice spot to practice..I might've joined you if I had a sword myself.."

Thanos nods, "I find this place is like few others. Lets me focus with very few. . .distractions." His eyes take in the scene while he continues, "I daresay you'd have had a tough time practicing a sword in that dress though." finishing with a well natured laugh.

"Would you care to join me for a drink at the Flaming Arrow then? I would offer you a drink here, but I don't have what I need for a picknick." Finally he begins to pull his shirt over his head.

Laughter spills from her throat at that remark. "Well..that's true, but one has to be prepared for anything, wouldn't you agree?" Janese counters with a grin. "After all, if it'd been a dangerous encounter--encumbering dress or no, I'd have to fight." As he begins to pull his shirt on, she automatically moves to help him, murmuring "Here Jerash..let me help you..you always were clum--oh!" Dark eyes blink up at him and she takes a couple of steps back, flushing. "Sorry! I-I used to..help my brother.."

Thanos's head peeks, then pokes out of his shirt to regard Janese with a quizzical expression, pausing a moment before resuming his actions. He finishes pulling the shirt on, tucking it into his pants carefully and resettling hair that once again runs across his face.

He looks at you neutrally a moment after he is fully dressed, then says, "Come then, shall we get that drink?" as he turns to offer his arm, he adds, "You must love your brother a lot I daresay." and nods almost to himself. Janese returns the man's quizzical look with an embarrassed one, and remains quiet until he speaks again. "Uh..yes, yes I think I could use one..it's rather warm out.." Riight Janese; more likely it'll calm nerves. She takes the proffered arm, nodding and replying softly, "I did..do still, though he's passed on."

Thanos beings to head toward TreeSingers Ave with Janese on his arm, matching her pace, "I am sorry for your loss then. I hope he died well though, if he was a brother to you, he certainly was too young to die of old age."

Common Room: Flaming Arrow Inn, Tar Valon

The common room of the Flaming Arrow Inn attracts both travelers and residents of Tar Valon. Its casual elegance comes from the extensive use of waxed and carved golden oak. To one side, an solid staircase with bronze arrow banisters below the oaken railing rises to the upper floor. Across from the stairs, a huge stone fireplace sits below a mantle carved with flames and arrows on either side. Large beams cross the high ceiling, supported by shaped columns where lanterns are mounted. Windows are placed across the entry wall of the Inn, which lies opposite from the long bronze-trimmed carved bar by the kitchen door.

The windows of the common room have all been opened wide, and the common room hearth is used only by patrons who sit upon its cool stone surface. The room is surprisingly cool for summer, due primarily to the ancient oak that shades the yard and roof above. Bouquets of summer flowers grace the mantle and tables, their scent freshening the room and providing color. Tantalizing smells waft from the kitchen and windows to mix here with the faint aroma of Tabac. The common room is filled with patrons this evening, delicious smells emanate from the kitchen, mixing with the faint smell of pipe smoke, around the room the hanging lanterns have been lit, their glow is cheery. By the door to the kitchen, a hand-lettered sign reads "This Evening's Special from the kitchen is: Onion Soup, Stuffed Trout, Greens, Bread and Cheese."

Thanos steps within the inn with Janese upon one arm, eyes glancing about for whom might be here, plus a good open table. Not seeing anything to catch his notice he nods to the woman next to him, "The back corner would do well I think." and makes to head there.

Janese has been relatively silent on the walk to the inn, save to mention that her brother was older than her. Slipping onto a seat opposite the Illianer, she clears her throat. "He was a warder, Thanos.." her voice is quiet and sad. "His bond died first.." That should answer the question of whether he died well..

Janese slides into the Back Corner Booth.

Thanos slides into the Back Corner Booth.

At your booth, Thanos involuntarily covers his sword a little more upon hearing her words, and he nods with a sadder expression, "I am sorry. I have heard...well, for how long did he outlive...her?" He doesn't bother ordering yet, a concerned expression dominating his face.

At your booth, Her tablemate might sense that this is a sensitive subject for the jeweler, as Janese looks a bit uncomfortable with the further questioning. "He was a strong man...but..even they, I guess..only a few months. A year ago.."At your booth, Thanos nods slowly, a few pieces falling into place, not many, but a few. To lighten the situation a little he remarks, "Shall we drink to his memory then?" targeting the nearest serving girl though not summoning her just yet.

At your booth, Janese has gotten /drunk/ to his memory many times. "Sure.." she replies faintly, then asks questions of her own. "You carry the herons--where did you train? And how is it that a blademaster would not choose to serve the Tower with such skills?"

Thanos flags a passing server and orders quietly.

The server quickly returns and walks over to the Back Corner Booth and sets the Two Ales, Bread and Cheese before Thanos.

At your booth, Thanos eyes Janese cautiously while he takes a drink from his mug, "My teacher had a small holding in the Mountains of Mist, I was sent there from Illian to train. For the Tower. . . .I wasn't going to mention that. To my fortune noone there has bothered me since I returned. If I didn't know better I'd say they didn't know I was here. When I last lived here though, they gave me more than enough 'chances' to be tied to them." He frowns as he explains, drinking more deeply, "And I have found, others sometimes have need of my skills. The Tower doesn't drive the world." he finishes with a nod, more to himself than anyone else.

At your booth, Janese takes up her own mug of ale and tosses back a goodly amount herself. She listens quietly while her question is answered, dark eyes studying Thanos' face. This man is definitely not her brother. "Indeed..they do not.." she comments lightly. "What brought you back to Tar Valon, Thanos?"

At your booth, Thanos takes enough time to finish a good draft of ale before he responds with a chuckle, clearly aimed at himself, "Because there's nothing else for me anywhere. My old guild headquarters is my last holding in the world." He washes down a tear of bread with another drink, "I am as I wished to be, tied to nothing and no one. I do not even know how long I will stay here." shaking his head, perhaps he is as he wished to be, but he certainly doesn't sound joyful about it.

At your booth, "Rather a good way to be," Janese smiles wryly, nodding. She reaches for her own hunk of bread, then selects a bit of cheese to place on it. "I've sev-..ah..that is left Altara for good..nothing holds me anywhere wither..kind of a nice feeling.." She shrugs a shoulder.

At your booth, Thanos orders refills of ale, "No plans to return there at all? Hmm, I had thought about returning to Illian more than once, " he glances south, "but I just can't consider myself a, 'subject' anymore, and I would prefer not having service there be pressed on me. There or anywhere else."

Thanos considers the woman eating bread and cheese next to him, "Have you ever had a moment in your life when it seemed like. . .you were standing at a crossroads, and not only do you not know which road to take, but you don't even know what they are?" he asks.

Janese has been eating her bread and chokes a bit on it when Thanos asks if she has plans to return to Altara. "Uh..uhm..no..no, I can't.." she supplies, once her breath is regained. And doesn't really address it further, but to answer his other question, which actually ties in. "I have, yes.."

Thanos raises an eyebrow at the mention of 'can't', and considers pressing that. Instead he addresses the other answer, putting in a chuckle before asking, "So did you find your way out, or are you stuck there like I am?" he smiles before stuffing some bread and cheese into his mouth, followed by a wash of alcohol.

Just how much can she tell him? Can she even trust the man? Even snakes can be charming at first. Janese eyes him a bit warily before replying, "Only out of Altara..that's all I know..I honestly don't know if I'd like to remain so close to the Tower..".

At your booth, Thanos closely avoids a snorting chuckle into his drink at Janese's last remark, setting the drink down with a knowing grin, "I understand how you feel." then his smile fades somewhat, thinking aloud, "Or at least I did. I don't know, there's something different about them now." then he shakes his head, reaching for the mug once more, "May its just me." and he drinks deeply.

Janese lifts a brow. "Different now? The Aes Sedai?" Her turn to snort. "And how's that?" Her hands grip her mug tighter. His life, his problems. Not hers.

At your booth, Thanos chews, swallows, and drinks, all while his eyebrows are furrowed in thought about that, "I'm not sure, as I said." he seems to look at nothing a moment before continuing, "I probably is just me. When I lived here before, they all but ran me out of the city asking why I wasn't a Warder yet. Now I come back, and not even a whisper yet. Sometimes I feel like they are just watching me, but that's just got to be in my head." He shakes that head, sending shoulder length hair flying before he stops and it settles back into place with a sweep from his hand. "I just hope it /is/ in my head."

At your booth, Janese sets her food down to concentrate on her ale, and listens quietly, nodding here and there. When Thanos has finished, she observes, "I can see now why you say that you do not even know how long you will remain here. And I honestly didn't mean to pry..it's none of my business.." But I need someone to talk to, and I need a friend, and I need someone I can trust and..She smiles and shrugs a shoulder. "I hope it is in your head as well, Thanos."

At your booth, Thanos smiles gently as he looks at Janese, "If those thoughts were purely private, you'd not have heard them." it seems she isn't the only one who just needed someone to talk to.

Clearing his throat, he asks, "So, how is your quest for a shoppe going?" and finishes the mug of ale.

"Maybe it's just easier to spill to a stranger, though a risk," Janese's returned smile is a little more confidant. There's been no snakebite yet anyway..Her eyes linger on his green ones a moment longer before looking to her own mug. "Light knows how a person can *appear*.." she murmurs to herself..

Good..subject change. "Oh that.." she waves a hand and frowns lightly. "The building owners seem to want one's life savings for even a modest little place. I'd barely have enough left for a place to live. None of the shops had attached living quarters--that'd be ideal, really.."

At your booth, Thanos nods and considers the empty ale mug before him, without looking at Janese he speaks, "Your money trouble likely would go away with the sale of some jewels, but then I suppose one would need a buyer there as well." and then he falls silent, looking at the mug.

At your booth, Janese nods in agreement. "Well certainly a healthy sale or two would help a great deal. Though I'm not poor yet!" She laughs softly and begins tearing at her bread. Not eating it, but tearing into little pieces as she thinks.

Thanos flags down a serving girl ordering quietly. A moment later she returns with two cups and a bottle of Brandy. As Thanos uncorks the bottle and pours himself and Janese a drink from it into the two cups with a remarkably steady hand, he says, "Well, I don't know if you would be interested. I don't even know if it would work, but perhaps you might open shop at my place." his head nods in the general direction of his home, general because his head does loll a bit when he turns it, "I certainly have no use for all of it anymore. . ." With that he slips the cup to his lips and drinks.

Brandy? Well that's a favorite of hers, though none would know it. Janese's eyes, her whole face seems to brighten as she takes up her portion with a smile of thanks. And his offer is quietly listened to. "You../would/..let me do something like that?" she asks a bit incredulously, then smiles. "That's very generous of you, Thanos..I would like to see it of course, and gauge the potential.."

At your booth, Thanos downs his cup and refills while he nods to her incredulity, "It would be good to have some life in that place again. And again, I don't know if it'll work for you. But maybe it would."

At your booth, Janese tosses back her drink, then plunks her empty cup down onto the table with a grin. "I'll never know unless I try it out, hmm? Even if you are from Illian.." she adds that last with a teasing wink.

At your booth, Thanos raises an eyebrow at the Illian comment, not sure which meaning is put into it, but he chuckles anyway as he sips down more Brandy, "So you'll be wanting to see it now then I take it?" more of his native accent slipping through his speach.

"Yes..most definitely," Janese smiles as she refills her own cup with more of the burning liquid, then raises it to the man in a silent toast before she takes a drink.

At your booth, Thanos chuckles to himself and rises slowly from the table. He takes a final bite of bread into his mouth, and tosses enough coin to the table to account for the food, drink and more. Finally he corks the Brandy and lifts the bottle into hand, "Well then, we might as well be off to see it before it falls down." with a good natured laugh.depart

Thanos stands and leaves the Back Corner Booth.

Janese laughs. "Falls down?" she echoes. "Oh very encouraging, Thanos. Very encouraging indeed! You really do know how to do so, you know?" She quickly tosses back the rest of her drink, then sets the empty cup on the table with finality. "Lead the way, then.."

Janese stands leaves the Back Corner Booth.

Thanos offers his arm, slightly more wobbly than it was before, and once it is taken he moves to exit the Common Room, a bottle of Brandy tucked under one arm, and Janese holding the other.

Darein Lane: Tar Valon, Tar Valon

A broad paved road looms out before you, made of smooth grey stone and mortar. The buildings in this area are almost like palaces themselves, as you spy towers and spires coming from every direction. Inns and shops line the street making way for those would be travelers that mean to stay more than a few days. Summer heat seems to take effect at the close compacity of the city. Little air travels through the streets and what little does is stopped by the pristine, white walls of the surrounding palaces. The streets are all a bustle with shoppers, peddlers and merchants of all types and children set on playing their silly games. The afternoon sun beats down, warming the city streets even during some of the coldest of days.

Spires of the White Tower can be towering over the city even this far away. Nearby you can see an exit that leads to Alindrelle Square. The path to Alidaer Village lies to the east while you may walk west towards Jualdhe, off in the distance. Darein Bridge lies to the south, watched by a few of the Tar Valon Guard.

Thanos has arrived.

Janese has arrived.

Thus it is that the Illianer and the Altaran walk a little wobbily down the lane, laughing here and there, until they reach the building in question. "This is it, yes?" Janese inquires, peering up at the edifice.

Thanos's jovial smile fades a bit as they come before his home, "Aye lass, this

is my place. Once home to proud warriors. Now, as you can see. . .rather quiet."

The building indeed looks quiet, an awning bearing no sign sits high to one side of the door. The place appears to once have been an Inn or perhaps a two story tavern long ago.

"I can see why you'd like to liven it up again.." Janese's smile is unwavering. "I do hope that can be realized.." More potential, of course, can be seen by touring the interior..

Thanos motions forward with the bottle in his hand, "Come in then, and see what you may." With that, he steps slowly and deliberately toward the inn, likely his pace is more to ensure he won't stumble than to assume any kind of statesmanship.

You open the door and move into the building.

Main Room: Guardian Swords, Tar Valon

Clearly this room was once the common room for an inn, yet now it seems quiet and lonely. Devoid of nearly all furniture except for a pair of large long tables, a pair of equally long benches, and a few chairs. Even the old bar has been taken out, providing a near cavernous feel to the room. The classic large fireplace remains though, ensuring that the room is never too cold with wood stacked neatly next to it for use. A somewhat faded symbol is painted upon the wall above the fireplace, twelve swords in a wheel, each one's blade pointed inward forming a shield of steel. Six lanterns re mounted upon the walls around the room, evenly spaced to give light all around. Two windows, both looking out to the street sit on either side of the main door to the room. The kitchen door remains, although it clearly no longer houses a kitchen. A heron has been carved carefully into that door. A set of stairs near the back of the room lead upward to the second floor.

Thanos has arrived.

Janese has arrived.

Janese is careful with her steps as well--she drank more than she ate. And it's a hot day..Dark eyes are drawn first to the large symbol above the fireplace. "Impressive..why'd it disband, Thanos?" She turns back to him as she asks the question. "It was honorable, was it not?"

Thanos takes a deep breath as he steps inside. Releasing Janese's arm from his own, he sets the bottle upon the cleared table and makes a widely gesture taking in the whole room, nearly stumbling as he does so. "It was honorable enough methinks. As honorable as soldiers for hire can be." He turns to look upon the old symbol of his guild, "Yet all things fade in time Mistress Janese, all things."

Her eyes flick from him to the symbol again and she nods. "They do, yes.." Janese agrees quietly. "Though some quicker than others.." She is quiet for a time, lost in her thoughts as she notes the rest of the main room, then looks to the closed doors. "This is where you thought the shop might be?"

Thanos nods, "Aye, your main shop, or showroom perhaps. I know little of what you had in mind." Turning further he indicates the stairs, "This place was an inn before I bought it, upstairs there are several rooms for storage, quarters, many things." Finally his eyes come to rest upon the corked bottle upon the table, and he bursts into a roar of laughter.

"Ahh what a barbarian I am at times! I bring Brandy, and fail to remember I have nothing to put it in to drink." his laughter fades into a chuckle, shaking his head berating himself.

He gestures to the room once more, "Please, have a look about though. And ask what you will."

Janese blinks at the information. "There's..more than enough room for just me..and my business. I can even have a workshop!" Her eyes dance at the thought and she spins about suddenly, quite girlishly. Not a good thing to do when one has been drinking. She caroms into a nearby chair and falls into it with laughter. And modesty intact. "Well, the chairs are sturdy!"

Thanos watches the woman careen about with a sense of trepidation, which quickly turns into mirth as she falls into the chair, upon mention of the sturdiness of the chairs he roars with laughter, "Aye, they should be! I had them built to keep drunk men twice my size upright! To that chair, you must be a welcome burden after the loads it has borne!"

"I uhm..drank more than I ate, I fear," Janese chuckles. "My head's slightly spinning, Give it a few moments to stop, then I'd like to see more.."

Thanos smiles and nods, "Very well then." He seats himself across the table from Janese, idly eyeing both her and the Brandy, "I think I can do with a sit as well." and he slips into thought.

Janese smiles lazily across. "I'm just glad that we didn't have to walk all the way across the city to get here--not sure if either of us would've made it, in truth." She waves a hand to the nearby window. "It's a nice location--near the bridges for new arrivals to the city.."

Thanos nods slowly, memories conflicting with the present, "Mmm, just enough off the main roadways to avoid being stuffed with people durring the day, yet near enough to be easily found." His eyes turn toward the kitchen door, "And with the Flaming Arrow close, food isn't a problem, since that hasn't been a kitchen for years." and he chuckles, what exactly he's chuckling about might be in question.

The man's got a captive audience in Janese..a slightly dizzy one, but listening all the same. "Oh? Well then, if not a kitchen, what was it used for?" The jeweler might figure that she's got a right to know what this place was previously incarnated as--well, an inn at one time, that she knew..but no kitchen? Now that's a bit odd.

Thanos jerks out of his chuckling as if startled, maybe that alcohol really /is/ getting to him. "Uh, oh, oh yes. I converted it when I bought this place. It was and still is my chamber. I had to change out the bedding from what I once had, but otherwise it's pretty much unchanged from when I slept here regularly." He shakes his head a bit, "I sleep there regularly now. . ." as if to remind himself of it.

Janese lifts a brow. "Ohhh..I see now..how..homelikr." She dissolves into chuckling then; the fact that the man has converted a /kitchen/ seeing to strike her as quite humorous. "It must have good windows then.."

Thanos shrugs, giving in to temptation, he leans forward to take the Brandy bottle in hand. "There are windows, but I've had them covered for a long time now." He pauses to bite the cork, pulling it out of the bottle and dropping the stopper onto the table, finally taking a swig directly from the bottle before adding, "There was a time when giving someone the chance to know I was asleep would have been bad for my health." he grins and sets the bottle down, idly rubbing his beard.

Well, he bought the stuff, he can drink it. And she'll just watch. Janese's smile holds amusement at both Thanos's actions and words. "I see..well,you should uncover at least one of them--let in some fresh air. That is /good/ for your health, Thanos.."

Thanos smiles and nods, "Perhaps, perhaps." he thinks to himself for a moment before remembering where he is, "Are there, any other questions you have that I can answer. If I can?"

Janese hmms softly a moment and shifts in her chair. "I can stay here as well? I'm not sure if you told me that I could..you said only the shop, right?" She squints a moment as if trying to remember just what exactly his proposition was.

Thanos's eyes fall upon the door to his chambers before he bursts into self aimed laughter again. Once he calms himself down a bit he shakes his head, "Of course you can stay here. You can have your pick of rooms from the second floor. None are very stately, and I daresay all need cleanup. . ."

Dark eyes flick to that former kitchen's door and an equally dark brow is raised. Surely he didn't think..well perhaps he did, and thus his laughter. Janese observes quietly then smiles. "Wonderful..anything, I'm sure it will be fine. I do not need stately.."

Thanos, still smiling nods, "Very well then. I daresay you'd not want to stay here tonight though. There's likely not more than a chest upstairs, and I don think anyone has even looked at half of those rooms within the last year." He takes another drink from the bottle, setting it down again with a thoughtfull look on his face.

Janese agrees by shaking her head. "No..probably not..especialy if they're in the condition you say. They'll need a good cleaning, and it's ..well it's too late this evening. Early start would be better.." Though she looks perfectly comfortable in that chair and just a bit drowsy.

Thanos has enough presence of mind to note Janese's condition, with a grunt he says, "In your condition you wouldn't get far in cleaning any room, regardless of what time it is right now." as though /he/ isn't drunk at all!

He looks around the room a bit, noting nothing that comes even close to the definition of 'soft' and sighs to himself. "Nor methinks would good be served by trying to get you back to that inn. No, there's only one thing for it. . ." he nods in the direction of his quarters, "I would be honored if you would take your sleep in there this night. I can sleep well enough on one of my benches here, I certainly have had worse." the last is accompanied by a short soft laugh.

"There..the windowless room?" Janese is unsuccessful at keeping a little laughter in, and tries to sober herself by clearing her throat and sitting up.

"Most kind of you, Thanos..I think you're right.." She struggles to her feet then and hangs onto the back of the chair, letting out a pronounced "hmmmmmmmmm."

Thanos rises more slowly, even so, he needs to grip the table for a moment before he feels steady enough to walk around the table to Janese. "You certainly look ready for a nap. " he adds with a grin, setting his feet further apart than usual for balance.

"Herenow, I'll make sure you make it there safe." in a voice that is oddly sober, remarkably protective, it certainly sounds sincere.

Janese grins at the man. "Do I?..make sure it's not bad for my health as well?" she jests lightly, using his previous statement. She grabs onto his arm for extra balance. "Slowly.." she cautions.

Slowly, quite slowly the pair make their way to the door and past it. Thanos guides the woman through and into the next room.

You open the heron marked door and walk into the office.

Thanos' Quarters: Guardian Swords, Tar Valon

A small fireplace dominates the north wall of this room, looking big enough to supply plenty of heat when needed. Two windows looking west and south are covered by dark draperies, blocking sunlight and prying eyes as well. Just off from the fireplace is a large, heavy table with two chairs. One chair near the fireplace, the other on the opposite side of the table. Beneath the table sits a heavy looking chest bound with an iron lock. On the wall near the fireplace is a map of the world. Against the south wall sits a modest bed, large enough for two people perhaps. The bedding is equally modest, earthy colors and little else to liven it up. Near that bed is a small table with a washpan and minor amenities.

Thanos has arrived.

Janese has arrived.

Janese isn't sure which one of the two has the better balance. And it is just that that she chooses to comment on as they gain the windowless room: "I say we Altarans have better balance than you from Illian. Always have, you know.." Atruly inane subject, and not really one that can be judged..or taken too seriously.

While the bed has been made, rumples upon the fabric might inidcate someone slept on top of the bed most recently, not in it.

Thanos snorts a laugh at the claim of Altaran balance superiority, grinning he replies, "Perhaps we can put that to the test over cold water sometime." Still grinning, one arm keeping you, and he, steady, the other sweeps across the room, "This is it. The fire is a little low, but I don't think you'll need much more of it. If you do, I can get more wood for it."

"It's summertime..doubt I'll need it, really," Janese nods, eyes roaming the room til they alight on the maps. "Ooh..maps..maybe I can plot my way out of here before I fall asleep.."

Thanos shakes his head with a smile, "Don't rely too much on that old thing. It's not very accurate for one thing, found that out the hard way I did." He looks about the room again, as if checking on it, "Well then, I will leave you here in peace." He starts to perform a flourished bow, but is force to stop it and grip the door lest he fall flat!

Janese smiles, then laughs softly at the bowing attempt. "Thank you, most kind blademaster..rest well.." She's hanging onto the table..only the Light knows if she will make it to the bed. but at least she's in the same room as one..

Thanos smiles softly, then nods once, turning out of the room and closing the door behind him as he goes. "Sleep in peace Janese." is all he says before it is closed.

You leave the office.
