Renimar:
Jelanna:
Adelina:
Before you stands a young woman, both short (4'11") and slender. The way she stands seems to command both attention and respect, no matter what her mode of dress or place of standing. Despite her height she seems to walk as if she expects people to look up to her. Her face seems rather pretty, with a small, yet strong nose - which at times can seem slightly higher than it should be - and sweet, sensual lips. Her chin is held high, seemingly with confidence and strength, and her eyes, being a thick, dark brown, appear to hide her emotions rather well. Her hair is tightly coifed into an elaborate tower of curls, held in place with the Rising Sun Crown of Cairhien, yellow jewels shining with every movement of her head. Two curls fall out of the tower, near her ears far enough down to touch her shoulders. Her dress is dark blue, dark ivory lace at the high cut neckline and at her wrists. On the ring finger of her left hand she is wearing a ring of a Serpent biting it's own tail. A Great Serpent ring.
Miri - Queen's Attendant
The great doors of the Grand Hall open and being escorted into this grand edifice are two figures....a man and woman. The woman seems to glide across the floor, paying little attention to the grandeur around her as if it were commonplace in her experience and instead focusing the attention of her sappire gaze upon the one who sits the Sun Throne. As she comes to a stop just short of the throne, Jelanna inclines her head gracefully to Adelina before saying, "The Amrylin sends her greeting to you, Adelina su Tiigril Ria and I as well."
Adelina sits upon her throne, waitting for the guests that asked for admitance to arrive. There are guards along the hall, all armed, and various servants around as well, expecially Queen's Attendantes standing behind the throne. The queen notes the presence of Miri and inclines her head slightly, light from the many candles in the hall catching the golden jewels in her crown. She seems annoyed as Miri speaks and says stiffly, "Miri, why don't you take your place with the rest of the Attendants." Then she looks towards the Aes Sedai, "Grace favor you, Aes Sedai, and the Amyrlin."
Shadowing the regal sister he is escorting, a man in dress uniform bearing the rank of a high officer follows a pace behind. Upon entrance, the hall is swept with a steely grey-eyed gaze, noting attendants, guards and Queen. Armed Guards, he notices. Of firm countenance, he turns to view Cairhien's monarch, the comment calling to him brushed off as lint, insignificant.
Miri curtseys again. "As Mine Majesty wishes." Without a hint of emotion she marches, most unladylike, to the furthest edge of the patch of floor that is claimed as the ladies territory. Far from the other attendants, and her Majesty.
Quite ignoring the uppity servant, attendant or no it is the height of impoliteness to speak to a dignitary's staff in such a forward manner, the Aes Sedai gives Adelina a polite enough smile before commenting, "The Amyrlin sends her wishes of your continued good health as well as the her hope that the great bond between the Tower and the great nation of Cairhien remains unbroken, especially in the face of the time you spent within our walls not so long ago. I am Jelanna Temanean, Aes Sedai of the Green Ajah."
The Queen nods briefly, light catching on her crown again and showering the room with spots of golden color, "Of course, Jelanna Sedai." She ponders a moment, "Green Ajah. They are the ones known as the Battle Ajah, am I correct? I think it was Kinta Sedai who explained the differance between Ajahs to me while I was at the Tower. Interesting, I was expected them to send a quite different Ajah to talk with me, but I am sure the Amyrlin knew what she was doing when she sent you." She keeps her arms folded in her lap, mind focased on the Sedai and her compainion, "May I offer you some tea, or wine perhaps?"
Lips quirking into a brief smile, Jelanna allows, "Yes....oftentimes we are called the Battle ajah, that being because we fight the shadow in whatever form it may come....and yes, I believe a cup of tea would be lovely." And as to the why of a member of her Ajah being sent rather than say a Blue she does not comment. Arching a brow slightly she looks around and says, "Dear me, there doesn't seem to be a place to sit though. Would your Majesty care to go someplace a bit more comfortable, and then I can give you more exact details as to the purpose of my visit."
With the fabled poised air of the Warders, Renimar keeps his silence, a sentinel for the Tower's Emissary. Schooled in the intricate graces and etiquette of court, he waits command or biddance from the Aes Sedai while introductions and exchanges with the Queen are carried out.
With a brief nod of her head, which sends yet another shimmer of gold through the air, the Queen remains where she is sitting for the time, motioning towards one of her neatby Attendants and requesting tea for herself and the Aes Sedai. Then her deep brown eyes return to the Sedai and she gives her head a small shake, "This is where I normally accept deligations, but perhaps, once the tea gets here, we can go out into the Gardens to continue the discussion." She makes a motion toward a guard who instantly leaves through one of the exits, likely to clear out the gardens and make sure it's safe.
As if that were her thought all along, Jelanna nods and says, "While we are waiting, let me also introduce my companion. This is Lieutenant Renimar Hune of the Tar Valon Guards.....he is the leader of the escort which accompanied me from the Tower to Cairhien."
Adelina nods briefly, "I know. I have met him before." Simple, easy. Though something in her tone shows -to those who look very close and can hear things like such - it is obvious there is some dislike towards the man. She hides it under a smile which she points at him, "Would you like some tea as well, Lieutenant Renimar?"
"Peace favour you, your Majesty." Lord and Lieutenant both, to the Queen he makes a bow wrought of custom and habit from this twin duties, one he gives greeting Aes Sedai -- as one close to an equal. With the briefest shakes of his head, he declines the offer. "Thank you, no, your Majesty."
The tea arrives a few moments later, on a tray, with a few honey cakes and lemons and sugar to put in the tea. The Queen's has already been prepared the way all the maids now she likes it and the maid asks in a timid voice, head down before the Aes Sedai, "Sugar, lemon or honey in your tea, ma...uh... Aes Sedai?"
Miri of course, knows the answer.
"Two cubes of sugar and small bit of honey, child." is the response of the Aes Sedai to the maid's request. Accepting the cup after it has been properly prepared, she turns toward Adelina and with a brief glance in the directions of the gardens asks, "Shall we your Majesty?"
With the gliding motion that seems to be as much part of an Aes Sedai as the Shawl, Jelanna continues alongside the Queen....every once in a while making polite inquires about this flower or that and in general making polite conversation as they make their way to one of the benches which line the garden path.
Remaining a respectable distance behind the Green sister, Renimar follows the small procession to the Palace Gardens on quiet feet, his strides purposeful, flowing. As the principals take their seats on a bench to discuss, Renimar takes position off to the side where as much of the garden as possible can be viewed. Gloved hands in spotless white clasp themselves behind the crimson jacket, standing in a serene pose, though those thinking he is indolent and unaware of his environment would be sadly mistaken.
Slowly, walking down into the Gardens, Adelina returns the conversation quietly, answering soft questions. Eventually when they reach a bench she moves to sit as she asks softly, "So why have you come to Cairhien, Jelanna Sedai of the Green Ajah?"
Taking a sip of her tea, Jelanna pauses for a moment in her answer before saying. "One advantage I suppose to some to being in the Green Ajah is that we tend to be a bit more blunt than some of the other Ajahs, so I will be frank with you....the Amrylin Seat is quite concerned about the apparent closeness of the Savior's forces to Cairhien as well as the strengthening Whitecloak presence and she has sent me to request you allow the White Tower to send an Advisor, an Aes Sedai of both your choice as well as the Amrylin Seat who can give you council in these difficult times so that you might steer Cairhien into the direction which best serves the Light." And if she had not just made such a thinly veiled command, she says, "Lovely tea, my dear. You'll have to let me know the blend so that when I return to the Tower I might pick some of it up."
Adelina shakes her head and takes a drink on her tea finally before replying in a soft tone, "Aes Sedai, I mean no offense, but I do not see how any Aes Sedai Advisor can know what is best for my country. How do I know your Tower will not just use this Advisor to do what is best for the Tower, same as what the Children of the Light wish to do by giving me an Advisor as well. I know it was in my agreement with the Amyrlin that I would accept an Advisor, and I will, just do not be prepared to see me listening to her very often." She takes another small sip, "I can be blunt as well." Also, something about her manner is off, as if she is not in the mood for this at all and just wants to get it finished with as soon as possible, so she isn' dodging around things like Cairhienin usually do.
The Aes Sedai regards Adelina for a long moment before letting her lips tilt upwards into a faint smile, "It is not many who would speak so bluntly, child. I would however have you remember that the main interest of the Tower is to hold the world ready for the Last Battle, and it would do us little good if the nations of the world were in chaos or badly mismanaged. Thus, we provide Advisors who are trained in a variety of areas and it would behoove you to at least listen to whatever she has to say, even if you do not act upon it." Taking a small sip of her tea she adds, "To do otherwise would be foolhardy, and you don't strike me as the foolish sort."
Adelina's jaw tightens at being called child and she stands from the bench, "I believe you may leave now. I hope you and your man find safty within the walls of Cairhien." She remains standing and waits for the Aes Sedai to leave, eyes barely giving away the anger she's feeling.
Jelanna pauses for a moment and then stands, before giving Adelina a warm smile quite at odds with the irritation she no doubt fills at being thrown out. Acting as if it were her own idea she gives her teacup to a passing servant and says, "Of course, you seem to be somewhat upset at the moment. I will be at the Silvar Star Inn for several more weeks before I depart back for Tar Valon, please let me know exactly who you would care to have for your Advisor so that I may inform the Amrylin. Good day." and with not even a nod to the Queen this time, Jelanna glides back inside the palace...followed closely behind by Lieutenant Renimar.
