Queen's Birthday Celebration

Setting: Palace Gardens: Sun Palace, Cairhien
The gardens are beautiful, made from broad pathways, lined with small oaks and larch-trees. Circles of flowers in beautiful shades of blue and violet rounds the foot of each tree. The pathways are long and straight, and when they meet in a crossing in the middle of the garden, they create a small 'plaza' with a sparkling marble fountain in the middle. Aside from the pathways are green areas in soft, well-trimmed grass, with several small benches in shady corners. The cool autumn-wind carries itself across the Palace Gardens, blowing rusty-colored leaves and flowers along with it, giving the place a somehow melancholic expression. The rising sun reminds you of the Rising Sun of Cairhien, with its rays reaching through the clouds just gathered close to it. It is still a little chilly. There are four pathways, all leading from the center and the fountain. One of them leads towards the archway, taking you to the courtyard. The others lead inside the palace through different small gates.

Characters:
Adelina - Queen of Cairhien
Miri - Queen's Attendant
Lyren - Queen's brother and hier to the Throne
Relovic - Head of House Voraneth, Queen's not-so-secret love
Zarniel - Advisor to Lady Krynn of Rhinorth
Phineas - LCC of the CoL
Bryn - Head of Palace Guard
Corendor - Palace Guard
And various others.

Relovic smiles and gives a short laugh at something one of his following servants had said. A reply is said back but it is not loud enough to be heard beyond that group. Relovic turns his golden gaze across the rest of the people, seeking the queen.

Adelina appears down one of the pathways in the garden, speaking softly with a minor noble, likely discussing some business venture the older man wishes to make. By the way she waves her hand, she seems to be dismissing what he says. She has her hands folded at her waist and looks around the group of people gathered. Her eyes find someone - a certain golden eyed house head - and she smiles for a moment before noting the Attendant wishing her a good nameday and nods towards her as well in thanks.

Bryn bows briefly to his lady from across the gardens. He and his men have arrived and positioned themselves long before. This is evidenced by the dark shadow Bryn seeks out among the trees and speaks to a moment before moving on to check on the next guard. He seems his usual wary self.

Relovic turns his head almost by instinct to notice Adelina's entrance. The smile on his lips turns somewhat a bit warmer and he makes his way towards her, his two servants following, one holding a small something in his hands. "It is good to see you well today my queen," he says when near enough. "I wish you a wonderful nameday and hope you have many more, each as good as this one." With a small gesture of his hand his servant puts the small package in his hand and Relovic presents it to Adelina with a smile on his face and a glint in his eyes, "A gift for you." It seems to be a leather bound book that has no title, only the Lord's sigil embossed on the cover.

With a warmer smile on her lips, Adelina reaches forward to take the book in her hands. She opens it briefly, just enough to peek inside, then closes it and keeps it in her hands. "Thank you, Lord Relovic. And so far this has been one of the best namedays I have had." She motions towards one of her Attendants, Miri and asks, "Would you like some tea, Lord Relovic?"

Miri dissappears, only to later return with a tea cart.

Relovic says "I am glad to hear so." With a nod he replies, "Yes, some tea would be excelent.""

Adelina smiles and takes a cup from the cart and holds it toward Relovic, "I am glad you could make it." She keeps the book in her hand while she waits for him to take the glass.

Relovic smiles and takes the proffered glass. Since he isn't carrying anything he takes another glass and holds it out for Adelina as he replies, "I would be loathe to miss this joyous occasion."

Adelina takes a hold of the glass with her free hand, pausing to touch Relovic's hand a little longer than normal before taking it to sip on the tea. After a moment she replys softly, "Well I am glad to hear that, Relovic."

Zarniel arrives along the path coming from the Courtyard

Miri glares at the hier.

Lyren enters the gardens, and pauses to adjust his jacket. He's late, but he doesn't seem to concerned.. though the keen observer would note he's a little winded.

Zarniel slowly walks into the Gardens from the Palace Courtyard, his back straight and hands clasped behind him respectfully. His eyes drift casually about the area to take in those about him. After standing there a moment, he continues inward ...

Relovic turns to look at the heir as he enters and inclines his head respectfully. Relovic takes a sip of his tea and mutters to Adelina who he is next to, "It seems you brother has decided to grace us with his presence." It is said with a smile and no ill intent meant

Adelina glances up in time to see her brother walk in and inclines her head toward him, sending a reflection of golden light off her crown, "It seems he has."

Lyren blinks at Miri, then shrugs.. what can he say? His attention shifts to the Queen and her.. ahem.. companion, and he grins wryly. Bowing, he produces a simple white flower and holds it out for Adelina.. "Happy Birthday, your majesty.."

Zarniel approaches the general area around the Queen, not about to intrude upon her conversation with the Lord Lyren so he keeps himself at a respectful distance until he has an opportunity to speak. Still holding himself respectfully, he takes the moment to take in the activities of the Garden, allowing a small grin to grace his face.

Adelina smiles at her brother and hands the glass to a servent in order to take the flower and still hold on to the book Relovic got her. She places the flower in her hair, above her crown, and says softly, "Thank you, my brother."

Miri fades into the background.

Lyren smiles winningly. "I am glad you like it, 'Del.. I mean, it's hard to find a gift for a woman who literally has everything."

Relovic gives a friendly nod to Lyren, the sunlight glinting off his yellow eyes for a moment, "A greetings to you Lord Lyren." Hearing Lyren's next comment he grins and adds, "Yes, I have to agree."

Adelina smiles and leans forward to take her brother by the hair, pulling him down to her hieght so she can kiss him on the cheek, "You brother are all the gift I need." She flashes a smile and says softly, only for Lyren and Relovic and the really close servent's ears, "And you too, Relovic."

Lyren raises an eyebrow, then smirks his characteristic smirk. "weell.. I had considered finding you a new beau, sister.. but it seems you have already filled that opening..

Miri frowns. She doesn't recall giving approval.

Adelina twists Lyren's hair a moment to cause him a little pain, before letting go, "You know I do not like people 'finding' people for me."

Lyren ows, maybe a little loudly.. then straightens and sniffs. "We all have to put up with things we do not like, sister.." he reminds.

Relovic gives a grin at the interaction between the two siblings and takes a sip of tea as he watches on, hinding any amusement behind his teacup.

Adelina takes her tea cup back from the servent and says, "Well, Lyren, I would not know what you mean by that. You are pampered."

Lyren snorts. Quite unbecoming of a nobleman. "Pampered? Hardly.. I still have not been able to convince the head maid that breakfast in bed /is/ a good idea."

Relovic shakes his head at this comment. He must agree with the head maid that breakfast in bed isn't a good idea.

Clarisse arrives along the path coming from the Courtyard

Adelina chuckles softly, "Lyren, you are impossible." She motions towards a bench with the glass she's holding, "Perhaps you would all like to have a seat? I know I would like to."

Zarniel currently stands a short distance from the Queen and her other companions, though not currently involved in their conversation. His back is held straight and his hands are clasped behind his back respectfully. His eyes turn to watch those whom enter the Gardens, watching neutrally.

Clarisse takes a few reluctant steps into the gardens, then stops off to the side of the path, nowhere near the other people, just watching quietly.

Zarniel turns an eye between the newcomer whom stands alone to the side, and the Queen, a touch of debate in his eyes. With a small sigh, he slowly turns and approaches her Majesty, offering her a full and deep boy as he speaks in a gentle voice. "Your Majesty ..." is all he says, refraining from any further words so as to make his interuption as small and polite as possible. As he straightens, he awaits a response before doing anything further.

Relovic raises one eybrow slightly and asks, "Is that invitation open to me as well, your majesty?" He holds his cup low in one hand and his face seems to be on the edge between seriousness and a joke.

Clarisse sees the man addressing the woman as the Queen and her eyes widen. She looks about to turn around and walk away.

Adelina glances over at Zarniel, "Yes?" Then nods to Relovic, "Of course."

Relovic glances over at Zarniel to see what he has to say. He takes a sip of his tea as his golden eyes take in the man addressing the queen.

Lyren smiles slightly. "I think, sister, that if Relovic's going to join you, I'll perhaps remain standing... do a little mingling..'

Zarniel returns both of his hands behind his back, his eyes attempting to diminish the height he has. As he continues with polite words, he bows his head to the Queen, "I am here to bring you House Rhinorth's best wishes on this special day of your's Your Majest. The Lady Krynn sadly could not make it, no matter how much she truly desired to, but asked me to portray her desire that you possess man more such years, and many more celebrations." he says, waiting for his words to finish before rising his eyes again.

Adelina frowns at Lyren, disappointed, but not going to argue with her brother here and now, she she looks at Zarniel and waits to hear what he has to say.

Adelina nods, "Of course. Send my regards to Krynn, and the rest of Rhinorth." She moves to sit down now.

Clarisse evidently decides that this isn't for her and slips out, hopefully unnoticed.
Clarisse walks along the path leading to the Courtyard.

Relovic puts up a hand as if to ward off something, "No, that is alright Lord Lyren, I would not want to come between you and your sister. You two can talk and I will mingle for a while." He gives a nod of his head and starts to turn to wander away into the crowd.

Zarniel offers her yet another bow, "Yes Your Majesty ..." he says, taking a few steps back as she comes to rest, taking that as a sign to dismiss himself to the rest of the crowd.

Lyren hms.. oops? He didn't mean to chase anyone away... He looks apologetically Adelina's way..

Adelina shakes her head and pats the bench, "Don't worry, Lyren. Sit down and have some tea. Miri?"

Lyren sits down on Marble bench.
Lyren settles down.. it's the least he could do..

Relovic wanders away into the crowd, one of his servants trailing him the other mingling himself.

On the bench, Adelina says "Lyren, there's something I need to ask you. I'm lifting the weapon's bn tonight, do you think that's a good idea?"

Miri says "Majesty? Are you certain?"

Zarniel finds himself amongst the other servants of the Nobility, offering friendly nods to those whom he knows, and polite greetings to those whom he does not. His height lends difficulty to blending it, but he does so to the best of his ability.

Lyren widens his eyes.. then frowns thoughtfully. He mutters to Adelina, "Well,... so sure... I... as far... goes..."
You sense Lyren widens his eyes.. then frowns thoughtfully. "Well, Adelina, I am not so sure that I am unbiased as far as this goes..."

Adelina nods slowly. She mutters to Lyren, "... was... of... a... to... by... I've... haven't... Linden about it... I... it.... biased..."
Lyren senses "Adelina nods slowly. "I was thinking of giving a gift to the city by lifting the ban. I've recieved so many complaints. I haven't even talked to Linden about it yet, but I think I'll do it. I want your opinion, biased or not.""

Miri sits down on Marble bench.

Relovic mingles among those here to honor the queen on her nameday. He dances the dance of Daes Dae'mar as well as any Lord of Cairhien should and seems to get along well despite the uneasy glances at his eyes.

Lyren nods, and considers.. He mutters to Adelina, "... I... to... keep the peace.. perhaps... does...."
You sense Lyren nods, and considers.. "Well, sister, I think that Linden would have to hire more guards to keep the peace.. perhaps do something like Andor does. Only ban concealed weapons."

Adelina nods and smiles. She mutters to Lyren, "... despised... But that... you..."
Lyren senses "Adelina nods and smiles. "And here I thought you despised Andor. But that is an excellent idea. Do you think I should announce it now?""

On the bench, Miri says "Should I leave, Majesty?"

Lyren feigns a surprised tone. He mutters to Adelina, "...dear,... do... despise them now?... bunch... they are.... do... once in a while."
You sense Lyren feigns a surprised tone. "Why, sister dear, what makes you think I do not despise them now? A bunch of upstarts is what they are. But they do make sense, once in a while."

On the bench, Adelina shakes her head, "You can stay, Miri. But refill my tea, please."

Adelina speaks to Miri a moment and holds he tea cup over, then goes back to talking softly with Lyren. She mutters to Lyren, "... least... make... me,... should... the House Heads are not... yet,... think... late."
Lyren senses "Adelina speaks to Miri a moment and holds he tea cup over, then goes back to talking softly with Lyren. "Brother. At least you make some sense now. So tell me, do you think I should announce it now? Many of the House Heads are not here yet, but I think it serves them right for being late.""

Lyren nods his head. "Announce it now, Sister. They will learn, in time.."

Adelina chuckles and nods, standing up. Her voice is rather loud now, pitches to carry as she says, "Could everyone please gather near the fountain for a moment?" She starts towards the fountain with little hesitation, guards nearby. The fountain was choose obviously for the amount of space around it.

Relovic glances towards Adelina as she speaks and so does the minor Lord, or more minor than Relovic anyway. With a glance at each other the two move towards the fountain, their respective attendants following behind.

Zarniel turns a curious glance towards the fountain as he hears the words, and upon noting their source, turns his full attention upon it so as to listen.

Lyren loiters a moment to make sure everyone else follows... then he joins the throng as they head towards the fountain.

Zarniel moves forward with the crowd, just another wave amongst many as he makes his way with the others. He makes sure to keep his ears upon the Queen though, as well as his eyes as he awaits what she has to say.

Adelina waits until everyone is gathered around, or at least a majority, then she offers a nod, "I am glad you all could make it for celebration of my nameday, and in thanks for the various presants I have recieved I have decided I should give a present in return. And one that is long overdo." She pauses, and waits to see how people react to that.

Relovic waits patiently to see what this present is. A look of muted curiosity is on his face and he glances around to see what the others think of this.

Zarniel keeps a face of cool serenity, still awaiting what this, 'present', could be.

Phineas arrives along the path coming from the Courtyard

An older figure, distinguished if far less than handsome, steps onto the stones of the Royal Garden. A brilliant white cloak billows voluminously around his legs as he arrives. Dark eyes flicker across the faces of those present, disregarding most with a dispassionate expressoin.

Golden eyes flicker across those dark eyes of the man in white who just walked in. The Lord they belong to pauses and glances back at the whitecloak and then passes on, not wanting to call any unwanted attention to himself.

Zarniel slowly turns his head so as to catch a glimpse of the man, a brow raising a touch as he notes the cloak. Zarniel stands amongst a multitude of servants, trying to blend in with the Cairhiener Servants with his height. No sooner then he sees the man, then he turns his eyes away with disregard.

Phineas nods politely to the members of some small noble house who greet his arrival with a bow. Without speaking a word, the Lord Captain Commander makes his way into the crowd of gatheres, his arrival creating a stir of conversation and bows in greeting.

Lyren definately makes sure he avoids the whitecloak as he waits in anticipation of the Queen's proclamation.

Adelina smiles slightly at some of the reactions of curiousity and such noting the presense of the whitecloak distantly and starts her announcement, "When the city was reopened after the assassination of House Morden, it was thought important to keep another event like that from happening again, so a weapon's ban was called into service. It's been a while since the ban began, and now there is a much better defenseive power in the city then there was then, so I think it is time for the ban to be abolished.." She pauses.

Zarniel slowly raises a brow in surprise, taking in a small breath as he listens. That is the only reaction that he offers, turning his eyes to regard those around him and their reactions.

The dark eyes of the Lord Captain Commander turn to gaze at the Queen as she makes her announcement. The elder man nods, as if finding the decision agreeable.

Relovic nods approvingly but does nothing else. He himself never thought the ban did any good and it had outlived its usefulness, if it ever had any. He looks around noting the others reactions and somehow avoiding the 'cloaks gaze.

Some of the commoners react a little more... colorfully, cheering slightly at the prospect of being able to have their knives back. A few of the noble's guards who were itchy without their weapons are smiling before they can catch themselves, and a few of the nobles who were known to enjoy dueling - usually the younger men - seem rather happy as well.

Miri Frowns. "It is not time, Majesty

Zarniel sighs softly as he notes a feeling of being alone in his questionable sentiments towards the lifting. But she is the Queen, and her offers a bow of his head in the direction of the Queen from where he stands to show his respect. His gaze continues to rest upon her as well, to await more words should they come.

Miri frowns moreso. "I really think this ... unwise, Majesty. Are you certain?"

Adelina smiles slightly at the reactions and gives Miri a slow look before adding on to the announcment, "Tomorrow, starting at midday, the guards at the gates will have orders to give back weapons they have taken and allow people to take weapons into the city. The only rule is that weapons are not to be consealed." She throws a second look at Miri. She does not like being questioned by her Attendants in public.

Lyren smiles slightly, more interested in the reactions of the crowd than the proclamation itself. He notices a few things.. and reminds himself to remember them for later.

Adelina takes a breath, opening her mouth to say something, then blinks and stops herself. She nods, "That is how it stands. Any questions on this?"

Miri fades into teh background.

Zarniel shakes his head lightly, and his words are lost in a flurry of responses from the crowd. His eyes still show a touch of disagreement, though he continues to hide it as well as he can, putting his mask of serenity back on.

One of Relovic's servants leans in to whisper something in his ear and as fate had it at just that moment something flashes through the air from one of the Towers. The golden eyed Lord turns his eyes towards that same Tower a split second before the first shot speeds through the air. He grabs his servant with both arms as if to shove him out of the way but he ends up holding his servants limp form, a crossbow bolt protruding from the unlucky man who chose the wrong time to whisper a comment. A space opens up around the two as people notice something happening.

Relovic is unable to move what with the body of his servant in his arms and is therefore not able to escape the second bolt which thuds audibly into his shoulder, sending the golden eyed lord sprawling backwards to the ground. A loud groan of bitten back pain escaped Relovic's mouth before he went down.

Zarniel blinks, moving an arm unconciously to shield whomever is at his side at the moment. Noting the fact that it is nothing but another servant, his eyes flash about the upper reaches of the gardens, trying to find the source.

Adelina opens her mouth, about to say something about talking one at a time, but when she hears the... commotion she's stopped by five guards coming out of no where to try and pull her down. About three others begin to move towards the area that the shots came from. Adelina beats her fist against one of the men grabbing at her, but allows herself to be pulled down a little bit. She saw who was near where the arrows hit...

Lyren swears.. loudly.. though it's probably drowned out in the noise of the crowd. He shoves people out of his way as he heads towards his sister..

Corendor arrives along the path coming from the Courtyard

The sudden stir in the crowd does not escape the attention of the seniormost officer in the Children of Light. Dark eyes flicker to the falling figure of Lord Relovic. The dark gaze trace back the flight of the second bolt to the Tower that holds Relovic's attention. Rather than scatter as many in the courtyard are doing, Phineas simply strides toward the side of the gardens, his figure now hidden from the Tower by a squat tree.

Zarniel does not find anything in his quick search apparently, and instead turns to make his way for the bolts' destination. His own curses are lost in the crowd, the rush of servants about him not helping his movement in the slightest.

Adelina pushes against one of the guards who was pulling her down from where she was near the fountain in the garden, a good distance from where the shots hit. "Get off me you great bloody lummox." She says loudly, "If they wanted to hit me they would have aimed better. Now move."

Relovic struggles weakly on the ground and groans in pain. The man he held has landed atop him and it looks as though he wedged the bolt that hit the Lord in further and twisted it in the fall, making the wound worse. A dark stain of blood spreads on the fine cut clothes Relovic wears and drips down to filter into the earth below the earth.

Corendor rushes into the gardens, a contingent of guards on her heels, quick sharp commands sending the guards to each corner of the garden, each guard with weapons drawn, a few going to push back the crowds. The tall Domani woman gives only a cursory glance to the Queen, seeing her already attended, and traces the path towards the glden-eyes Lord.

Lyren doesn't even need his eyes to confirm what happened.. He gets every closer to his sister, making free use of his elbows.. "'Del.. Lord Relovic has been hit!"

Adelina hears her brother through the crowd and pushes against her guards harder, "Get off me, now!" The guards let go of her, but look ready to grab or jump on her again should there be any sign of another attack. "Now get me over to my brother, now." They move around her into a human shield, weapons drawn and move her toward her brother. "And one of you do something useful and get a Reader here."

Zarniel blinks tightly, his eyes seeming to swim with all the movement before him. A quick move of his hand aids a servant in racing off in his direction of choice, Zarniel almost appearing about to give up on ever reaching the man.

Lyren falls into step with his sister, inside of the guard-shield.. and gestures towards where he believes Relovic is.. "That way, 'Del.. I think.."

Corendor glances through the crowd as she pushes her way towards the Lord, picking out the most apparent man in the crowd. That white uniform makes him a bit hard to miss, and she calls to him, voice brooching no argument, "You, here. Now!" A grunt as she nearly sends a servant off of his feet, before kneeling next to the fallen Lord.

It is hard to tell that Relovic has strange golden eyes since they are squeezed shut now as he struggles to push his dead servant off of him. With only one working arm he doesn't seem to be doing too well and his strenth seems to be fading slowly, draining out of him as his blood flows from his wound.

One of the guards, not the one in the shield around the royals, but one of the others, runs through the crowd to get that Reader. Adelina covers her expression under a mask of calm and moves with the group toward Relovic, though her hand is squeezing the book her gave her as a present so hard her knuckles are white.

The dispassionate gaze of the Lord Captain Commander notes the rush of invited persons and guards into and out of the courtyard with little concern. Nor does he fear another strike from the hidden assassin, for Phineas steps away from his protective tree towards the small knot of people around the Lord Relovic.

Zarniel finally gets within a small distance of the fallen man, and with nothing to do, merely stands there awaiting anything that might be needed of him. The moment still has not phased him too greatly, most likely because it is not his House being struck at. But he is still prepared to help.

Corendor frowns, grabbing the dead man by the shirt, dragging him off of the Lord, stepping over the body to lift the Lord's body, keeping the quarrel in his flesh to staunch as much blood as the wood's presence holds back, her body almost covering his, as much of a human shield as she can manage.

Relovic groans softly as he is moved. He doesn't seem to be too much aware of what is happening around him but he does finally manage to open his eyes a hair and for only a second. He seems determined not to loose consciousness, but that may be a battle he can not win.

Phineas stops at the knot of individuals around Relovic. The dark eyes of Phineas examine the prone form of the fallen Nobleman. He lifts a brow as he remarks upon Relovic's yellow eyes. An almost knowing look passes across his face as he watches Relovic, but only for a moment. The dark eyes turn to the Queen, surrounded by her guards. The white clad elder man turns away from them all as he makes his way towards the garden's exit, shaking his head almost and murmers in something akin to a wondering consternation, "Cairhienin..."

Adelina and her group finally make it over and Adelina's guards move to suround the Lord and his guardian as well. The Queen watches Phineas as he moves away and takes note of it for later, then she looks at Relovic and Corendor, "He is alive?" He moved, so he has to be... right?

Corendor frowns, eyes livid with anger as she sees the 'Cloak walk away, "Guards, see he and everyone else stays in this garden." With that she slides her arms around the fallen Lord, levering him against herself, "Arick, Velir, help me get him to the reader's chambers, and be quick about it." She looks to the Queen, ehr voice even, "He's alive...for how long, that remains to be seen. he needs to be moved and now."

Lyren has, meanwhile, turned to look back up at where the crossbows were probably shot from..

Adelina shakes her head at Corendor, "The shots came from that Tower." She motions towards were Lyren is looking, "It does no good to hold everyone here." She's just trying to remain calm, and talking's the best way to do that. She moves closer and reaches up to touch Relovic's face, a sad look coming into her eyes for a brief moment.

Relovic flicks his eyes open very briefly as he hears Adelina's voice, but they soon fall shut and he seems to have finally lost consciousness.

Phineas halts at the exit to the Garden, his path now blocked quite thoroughly by the presence of the Queen's guardsman. He slows and turns in time to catch Queen's comment. His dark featured stern face returns to the guards as he lifts a brow expectantly, waiting for them to part and allow him to pass.

Corendor shakes her head, "I'm sorry, your Highness, but whomever was in that Tower will not be foolish enough to stay there, and I'll not have the full forces of the Children coming down on our heads for having their man injured." With that, and with a look at the Lord, she and the two guards lift the now unconscious man, preparing to carry him to the reader's chambers.

Phineas finally speaks, his voice directed to Adelina, "Your pardon your Majesty, but I do not wish to be detained any longer, whatever your guardswoman thinks."

Adelina follows the guards carrying Relovic, "I'm going with you." She doesn't wait to see if her brother will follow as she moves after them, gripping the book tightly. She hears Phineas after a few seconds and can't hold back emotion under calm any longer, "Then leave at your own risk, Phineas!" she practically yells.

The guards confronting the elder Child of the Light simply shake their heads, moving into a protective circle around the man, weapons still drawn, faced out around him. Corendor looks up, "See the Child -safely- from the palace grounds and as far as he will let you beyond. His life is worth your own, all of you."

Phineas's stern voice answers Corendor, "that will not be necessary girl." and without waiting for the guards to assemble, he departs.
Phineas walks along the path leading to the Courtyard.

Miri growls.

Relovic seems to flinch back as the Queen yells and then returns to passiveness. Maybe he's not all gone yet and his eyelids seem to flicker again still not opening, looking at something that no one can't see.

Zarniel stands there idly, eyes moving about those present. A relieved look does rest in his eyes, sighing as well as he watches the guards now stand to block his exit. Oh well, his House will have to wait for it's report. His eyes watch the group depart with the Lord, as well as offering a distasteful look towards the departing WhiteCloak.

Miri says "Men such as these should not be allowed to waste mine majesty's time."

Lyren sighs and turns away from the tower, and watches his sister, as though trying to figure out if he should follow or not.

Corendor makes her way towards the exit with her guards carrying the Lord with her, the guards following the Child out, despite his disregard of them. Sending a few guards before her, she moves out of the garden.
Corendor walks along the path leading to the Courtyard.

The contingent moves out of the garden, only to meet the collection of guards preparing to take the Lord to the reader's room, a stretcher of sorts, in hand, which they slide under his body to hold him flat, allowing them to quicken their pace.

Adelina follows quickly, refusing to be left behind as they carry Relovic. She tries to get closer to the stretcher, hands clutching the book.

Miri stays close on Adelina's heels.

Relovic does something a bit strange at this point, his face contorts into something like a snarl and he gives a low growl at something. It doesn't seem to be in response to anything happening around him, rather seeming very unprovoked. Maybe it is the reason his eyes still flicker beneaht their lids.

Corendor frowns, a guard before her throwing open the palace doors as the group make their way into the building, and down to the healer's room.
Corendor enters the palace through the massive doors.

Corendor shakes her head, heading for the stairs down, moving to stand at the front of the stretcher, taking the brunt of the man's considerable weight, allowing the Queen to proceed her, the Heir to follow the group.

Corendor nods as the procession continues, the reader coming out of his chambers, "All is ready, bring him in, and quickly. We do not have much time." She reduces theccontigent to two as she and Veril carry the Lord into the reader's room and set him down on one of the cots, before she steps away, turning to the Queen, "I will see to the commotion upstairs."

Adelina nods at Corendor, "Of course, go." and moves to get close to Relovic after he's laid down on the cot. She motions towards Miri, "Could you please get me some... wine." She needs something stronger than tea.

Corendor nods, bowing and departing, fairly running up the stairs once she gets there.
Corendor walks up the narrow staircase leading up to the Entrance Hall.

Adelina doesn't wait for the wine as she leans down, putting her mouth close to Relovic's right ear. She says something softly to him, though she seems to doubt even he will be able to hear it. The Reader has already begun to get his salves and things ready.

Miri says "Majesty, are any.. of my former employers in teh city?"

You whisper "There's something I should have told you a long time ago... and now's as good a time as any I think. *pause* I love you." To Relovic.

Lyren trails behind, though seems more concerned with looking around at the surroundings suspiciously.

Adelina leans back, saddened look on her eyes as she reaches to take Relovic's hand in hers, still holding the book in her other. She shakes her head at Miri's words, "If there are they have not made themselves known..." her calm is quickly falling away.

Relovic shifts in his unconcsiousness at what is whispered to him. It is hard to tell if it is because of that or not. Is that a tear near his eye. No surely not. It must just be sweat or water splashed from the fountain.

The reader starts his work, fixing the lord up. Adelina just continues to look at his face, eyes growing sadder and sadder. After a little while the Reader says, "Your majesty. It might be best if you and Lord Lyren left. I will send someone with word as soon as we are sure on his condition, alright?" The Queen looks up at the Reader for a minute, as if not understanding.

Lyren snaps his head back towards the Queen and everyone else. "Leave? Why?"

The Reader looks a little nervous, "Uh. Because I'm about to remove the quarrel, majesty, and that is not always... uh... a pretty sight." She continues to prepare the salve though.

Miri says "I have seen this, Majesty, she is correct. It is not meant for delicate eyes"

Adelina blinks at the healer, then looks down at Relovic. Her eyes look wet for a moment and she stands up, letting go of Relovic's hand reluctently. "Lyren... I think... I think it might be best if... we waited in my room." The Queen sounds awfully faint.

Miri says "Majesty, I will come as soon as it is good for you to see him again."

Lyren nods his head once.. he'd thought Adelina would want to stay, but knowing she feels she should leave, he's more than ready to escort her to her room. "Of course, Sister... Let's go..

As the doors open, a large amount of flowers spill out into the hall around your ankles... looking inside, you might see that the entire room, and everything within, is covered by about flowers.. a foot in depth. Lyren blinks, then looks rather shamefaced.. "Oh.. I suppose this is really a bad time for this.."

Adelina looks around the room once and quickly closes the doors before turning to her brother. Normally at a time like this she would smile, but instead she gulps softly and starts crying, something she rarely does anymore.

Lyren is surprised at first, but it fades as he comes to understand.. So he simply puts his arms around his suddenly very small sister, protectively.. "He will be alright, Adelina.. I am sure of it.."

Adelina leans her head against his chest, crying loudly. "Lyren... he can't die... I won't let him." She needs his arms to support her.

Lyren tries to laugh lightly.. "Of course not, 'Del.." Just like when they were kids. "That makes you think he will die? You have seen me do worse... like when I fell out of the tree on top of that hill, and did not stop till I hit the bottom.. remember?"

Adelina nods and forces a small laugh, "Yes... I remember. And you scared me to death 'Ren! I was sure you were going to die on the way down."

Lyren grins slightly, though he continues to hug you tightly. "Hey... I had to prove to you that I was invincible somehow, right? We men are tougher than you women give us credit for sometimes.."

Adelina pounds her fist against his chest once, looking up at her brother, "Only because you're bigger."

Lyren looks upwards, trying an innocent expression on for size... he still looks sober, though, as a resault of the situation. "I know, I know.. not everyone can be perfect.."

Adelina shakes her head, "You great lummox. Now will you help me get the flowers off my bed. I want to get /some/ sleep tonight."

Lyren nods his head, somberly. "Of course.. it's the least I can do. And at least your room has a pleasant smell now.."
