| Summary: | Child Narth finds the Lady Serenia dining on a light meal at the Silver Star Inn. Approaching her, the two later turn to conversation concerning the Savior and the differences of political views between Cairhien and Andor; the Child's homeland. |
Common Room: Silver Star Inn, Cairhien
The room appears rather serviceable for an inn common room. Tables and chairs are scattered through the area, as smells of food and ale permeate the room. There is a bar near the kitchen, where drinks may be served to those who do not wish to eat a meal. Several paintings and portraits appear to line the walls, as well as some banners and flags, showing off different things to the patrons and to allow for decoration. Almost everything appears clean, or as clean as it can get.
There is a small fire blazing in the hearth, warding away the winter chill that is soon to come. The windows are shut tight, to keep the cold away, and an occasional leaf can be seen sticking to the glass. The room has a single lantern lit, sitting on the table within the middle of the room. It appears to be devoid of life, save for a few cats lounging about, waiting for any mice that may pass their way.
A large oak door appears to lead outside toward the stable yard of the inn. A set of sturdy stairs leads upstairs into the a hallway which houses guest rooms and the common sleeping area. A large archway leads into a nearby tea room.
Narth pushes through the door, exiting the stableyard.
Occupying the table by the fire is a rather familiar woman, at least to the Children of the Light; Lady Serenia Hagon. She is one of their foremost supporters within the country of Cairhien, along with her parents and some other members of House Hagon. A cup of tea is poised delicately so in her hand as she sips the liquid from its confines. Laid out before her is a small platter of cheeses and fruits, a light meal.
Narth with several other children stalks into the common room, they peer about looking for anything suspicious.
Catching the door opening, Serenia turns her attention toward it. A small brow lifts in contemplation as she regards just who steps into the room. She smiles politely, nodding her head in a respectful fashion to each of the Children who look in her direction.
Narth doesn't see the nod till one of the other Children gives a small poke and points her out. Narth murmurs back to the other 'Who?' and gets a response 'She's that one who was with Inarin for a while'
After giving her customary respectful greeting to the Children, Serenia then turns her attention to the small meal before her. She starts to make a few tiny sandwiches with the cheeses and crackers. A bland diet, but one that works all the same.
Narth responds back to his mate 'ahhh. ya.' and then finally to her "Good day M'lady Serenia"
When addressed, Serenia looks up, mid-chew. She finishes doing so, swallowing first and washing it down with a light sip of white wine. A small blush forms on her features at being caught in mid-bite. "Good evening." She calls back, nodding her head to Narth. Unfortunately, she does not remember the other man, having been too far gone from the Children since her marriage.
Narth urps a little seeing her blush "My pardon M'lady. I did not mean to inturrupt."
A faint touch of amusement then does come to Serenia's eyes at Narth's reaction. "Honestly, its no bother, Child...?" She fishes for his name, that recognition still not on her features.
Narth gets a poke from behind again 'She wants to know your name' and answered "Oh, I'm Bannerman Narth."
"Child Narth." Child being a standard title, and equally as respectful, for the Children. "A pleasure to meet you." Serenia smiles faintly, eyes moving over Narth in a casual manner; not at all appearing as though she's 'checking' him out. She also regards the other men with him in a similar manner.
Narth smiles to her "Thank you m'lady. I'll let you get back to your meal. My men and I are just keeping an eye out for those savior darkfriends."
"You'll likely not find them here, then." Serenia speaks in a calm manner. "I believe they are staying in the Palace, as the Queen's guests."
Narth nods a little "The den of darkfriends. The people don't deserve to have leadership like that, but the Light shall shine over Cairhien in time."
The thoughts which Serenia has at this moment remain unspoken, at least on the topic of the Queen and her actions. "I am sure all will work out well. Perhaps, perhaps the Queen will turn the Ambassadors over to the Children of the Light in the end, to allow them to seek retribution against those who of your group who were slaughtered to the south?"
Narth nods "I hope so. The old Lord Captain Commander deserves justice for what was done to him."
"He was a just man." Serenia had the priveledge of meeting with him a few times. "I am sorry that his life had to end so tragically." There is a genuine seeming sadness within her eyes. She sighs lightly, lifting her cup of tea to sip at it lightly. As she does that, she pushes away her tray of food. "I can't say that I'm thrilled to have them here myself. The Ambassadors, that is," she clarifies.
Narth nods "I'm sorry if I ruined your dinner, was no intention, M'lady"
"Actually, I wasn't very hungry this evening." Serenia offers quietly, settling her tea cup back upon the table. Tilting her head to teh side a bit, she continues to regard Narth. "Tell me, how are things amongst the encampment of the Children? It has been sometime since I have been able to visit and show my support. My duties with my family, within the Palace, and to my husband have been keeping me busier than expected."
Narth answers the best he can "With the arrival of the new Lord Captain Commander, the camp is back to the orginizational level we had prior to his predicessor's leaving. You should come by, it might help to raise moralle that some of the Nobles still side with the light."
Serenia smiles a touch at Narth, "Perhaps I shall do just that. I would like to meet this new Lord Captain Commander, and see what he is like. Or, at least see him from afar. Surely, he does not have enough time to visit with all who come to see him." Likely, there are supporters and petitioners who do go to meet and speak with him; as with any other organizational group.
Narth looks pleased "He's different then the other leaders I've been under, he's trying to meet all of his men and find out who they are. Most have left something like that to their underlings."
Smiling, Serenia states in a quited manner, "He seems like a good leader, from what you tell me of him." There's a brief pause as the young lady considers further what she's delved from Narth. "And so far, you are happy with his leadership?"
Narth gives a nod "Hopefully he'll aid Cairhien and her queen to return to the Light."
This peaks Serenia's interest a touch, her brow raising slightly. "Will he be sending an advisor to the courts of Cairhien, as the previous Lord Captain Commander did?" A suggestion, perhaps, for the bannerman to make if it has not been considered already.
Narth shrugs a little "I don't know M'lady. I did not know that something like that existed."
Serenia furrows her brow a bit, "I believe the Queen agreed to an advisor with Lord Captain Commander Phineas Sinnar." The comment is quietly spoken. "As a counter balance to the advisor she has from the Tower."
Serenia further adds, "There were also a few other concessions, but I can't quite remember what they were."
Narth nods a little "I just train my men, that sort of thing is for the officers. I don't know if the Lord Captain Commander will keep the current people he has there."
Serenia nods her head slowly, lifting a finger to tap at her lips thoughtfully. "And you... how are you finding Cairhien?" She goes to something on more of a personal level.
Narth shrugs "Except for some of the nobility it's not much different then many of the other cities I've been to. I grew up in Caemlyn so I'm used to the atmosphere here."
Serenia nods slowly, a slight smirk coming to her features at the mention of Andor. "A quite different atmosphere there, I can imagine." Oh, likely she can, what with that husband of hers! She holds herself back from snorting at the end of that comment. Sighing softly, she murmurs, "No offense meant, Child Narth. It's just that I disagree with most, if not all, of my husband's concepts, and he was brought up within Andoran society."
Narth shrugs a little "My father was one of the queens guards, I've seen how most of the nobles treat the commoners as well as each other. Although the nobles here seem not to care about anyone but putting themselves over the others. No disrespect intended M'lady."
"Different heritages, and different ways of doing things." Serenia simply shrugs her shoulders at that. "Cairhien is about politics, and getting ahead. Andor is about getting along with one another and co-surviving. If you tried that here, you'd get yourself killed."
Narth nods "Its better in the Children. We need each other and the Light to survive."
Tilting her head to the side a bit, Serenia contemplates those words. "And that is all?" It is a simple question, one which sustains her curiosity.
Narth considers "I never considered much of anything else."
Serenia ohs lightly, nodding her head a touch. "It must get lonely at times, does it not?" Again, a mere curiosity on her part, and perhaps part of her missing Child Inarin and her talks with him.
Narth ums "I never considered lonelyness. Trying to keep pure in the eyes of the Creator doesn't leave much for some things" not sure how to answer the noble lady's last question
Amusement again touches Serenia's eyes, though she does not comment. Rising from her chair, she pushes away her cup of tea. "It was a pleasure speaking with you, Child Narth, but it is now nearing the time I must be getting home."
Narth gives a slight bow "Yes M'lady Serenia, Good evening to you, may the Light shine upon you always."
"Light guide your path, Child Narth." Serenia smiles a touch, then makes her way for the door. It might have been noticed that there were at least two House Hagon guards standing outside at that time.
